0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Michael Storm! The judges for this bout are Yuuki Gou, Yukihiro Shimada and Shirou Masuda.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Vascoca throws a leg kick but Storm sees it coming and moves out of range. Vascoca scores with a takedown into Storm's guard. Vascoca throwing strikes from guard but Storm blocks nicely. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Storm is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Storm tries to land a sweep but no joy. Vascoca stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Storm swivels though and keeps the full guard. Vascoca lands a couple of decent looking shots. Storm is trying to control the position from the bottom.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Michael Storm hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart. Storm has his takedown stuffed and Vascoca counters with a nice double leg into half guard. Storm looks gassed! Vascoca not doing much here.

Storm is trying to stand up here but Vascoca is controlling him well. Vascoca takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position. Vascoca scores with a couple of good hammerfists. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Storm is defending against the submission attempts here by Vascoca.

Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Vascoca in particular looking to stall. We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.
The ref stands the fighters back up. Cris Vascoca wasn't doing enough on the ground. Storm shoots and misses so Vascoca counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility. Storm can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Vascoca controls the pace. Vascoca postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head. Storm is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

Vascoca is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Storm is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Vascoca controls the position from side control. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Vascoca scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice. Storm is trying to escape the position but Vascoca is controlling the position. Storm takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better. Vascoca is trying to get an arm triangle but Storm is defending well. Check out the look on Vascoca's face as he threw that strike - that's one determined fighter!
That's two minutes gone in the round. Storm is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Vascoca is controlling him well. You can see the frustration on Storm's face as Vascoca controls the position. Vascoca looks up at the clock and then as Storm takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Vascoca smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!
Storm tries to buck Vascoca off but Vascoca is having none of it. Storm manages to work his way to half guard, despite Vascoca's best efforts. Vascoca working Storm over with strikes. Vascoca has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Well, if Vascoca is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
Vascoca seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Storm for as long as he can get away with. Storm throws a nice looking combination but Vascoca bobs and weaves to avoid any damage. Vascoca feints and as Storm raises his hands in defense, Vascoca changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard. Cris Vascoca overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Vascoca slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up. Storm will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.
