Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Matheus Borges (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Brant Clifford (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Brant Clifford was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

The judges for this bout are Donatello Bradman, Winston Howard and John Mangel.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Clifford bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Borges is letting Clifford control him for a moment.
Borges can't do much from the bottom here.
Clifford tries to get to his feet but he's trapped momentarily.
Borges sneaks back into half guard.
Borges is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Clifford's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Clifford's back!
Borges is striking well from the back but Clifford escapes and manages to control the positon and works his way to half guard. A much better position - the crisis is over for the time being.
Clifford is trying to control but can't.

Borges is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Clifford doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Borges.

Clifford really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Borges. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Borges has his foot on Clifford's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Clifford works his way back into a safe position though.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Borges shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Clifford counters with a single leg into guard. Borges didn't expect that.
Borges had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Clifford defends it easily.
Borges looking for a guillotine here but Clifford defends easily.
Clifford wants to control from the top but Borges keeps moving.
Clifford must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.
Clifford closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Clifford lands in his opponent's guard.
Borges working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Clifford doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Clifford manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Borges looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Borges keeping moving, preventing Clifford from controlling successfully.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Clifford got a little sloppy there for a moment and Borges has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Clifford has managed to get both his arms back between Borges's legs - danger averted.
Borges had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Clifford defends it easily.

Clifford would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
Borges is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Matheus Borges overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Borges has momentary wrist control but Clifford slips an elbow through the middle.

Borges looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Borges is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Borges seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Clifford does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Borges in half guard on the top. He's looking for a kimura... He's got it locked and he's managed to free his trapped foot. Clifford tries to escape but it's on too tight and he has to tap! Great BJJ skills there from Borges!
