The judges for this bout are Gwen Towbar, Wesley Smith and Daniel Franklin.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Salsalani fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Thompson shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Salsalani eats them both and turns towards Thompson to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.
Thompson falls off balance throwing a combination
and Salsalani cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Thompson tries to clinch
and Salsalani counters with a flying knee. Nice.
Thompson tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Salsalani was well out of range. Poor timing from Thompson.
Thompson misses with the combination.
Salsalani misses with a body shot.
Thompson throws a left and a right that both miss
and Salsalani counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Thompson misses with a double jab
and Salsalani decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Thompson's guard.
Salsalani wanted to stand there but Thompson had control of the position.
Salsalani throws a big right hand that misses.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Salsalani would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
Thompson is working actively from the bottom, looking for submissions. He's escaped his hips to the side and he's going for an armbar! Salsalani has his hands clasped together but Thompson extends an breaks Salsalani's desperate grasp, forcing a tap out due to armbar! Nice BJJ displayed there by Thompson.
