Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Paul Roberts (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Darien McJones (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Paul Roberts!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Darien McJones!
The judges for this bout are Sam Margolis, Paul Tew and Steven Brown.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Roberts closes the distance looking to clinch
and McJones counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.


It looks like Paul Roberts has been cut.

McJones shoots in and bounces Roberts off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Roberts working a defensive guard but McJones manages to pass into side control anyway.

McJones stands up and we're back to a striking position.
Roberts misses with a takedown attempt

and McJones counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
McJones works his way into full mount!

McJones is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Roberts can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.

McJones decides to stand up and try his luck on the feet.

McJones feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

McJones stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Roberts swivels though and keeps the full guard.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Darien McJones wasn't active enough on the ground.
Roberts has his takedown stuffed

and McJones counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Paul Roberts. That's going to take a lot out of him.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
McJones wants to control from the top but Roberts keeps moving.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

McJones is working for a guillotine from mount but Roberts frees his head quite easily.
McJones looking to finish Roberts with some ground and pound. This is bad for Roberts!
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

McJones takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

McJones throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Roberts was covering up waiting for the punch and McJones finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Roberts wants to control but instead he gets his guard passed and McJones is now in half guard.

McJones closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.

McJones escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Roberts is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but McJones pulls his head out easily.
Roberts knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for McJones on the ground.

Roberts is in a bad position, trying to hold on for dear life but he is really struggling to maintain any sort of control.

Darien McJones showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

We're going to have a standup here because Paul Roberts wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
Roberts shoots in but no luck this time.

McJones moves into the clinch.
Roberts tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. McJones just stands there and leans against the cage.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Paul Roberts. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Roberts jumps guard but McJones stands there with Roberts around his waist. Roberts gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Paul Roberts has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Darien McJones is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Roberts wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but McJones has him pressed against the cage.

Well McJones has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
