Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Walt Potter (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Seymore Buttz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Potter might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Emalkay - When I Look At You. Buttz is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Eye Of The Tiger. Both these guys have solid standup skills and neither is particularly fantastic on the ground, so let's hope for a nice standup war!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
12 - 3 - 1, fighting out of Montreal, Walt Potter! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
8 - 7 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Seymore Buttz! The judges for this bout are George Francis, Frank Dennis and Stewart Dunkirk.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Buttz scores with a nice strike. Buttz looks to score with a jab to the body but Potter is just out of range. Buttz tries to clinch but Potter moves out of range. Buttz closes the distance but Potter moves to the side and Potter counters with a lovely straight right hand! Seymore Buttz seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Buttz just misses with a punch to the body.
Buttz tries to clinch but fails miserably letting Potter counter with a right hand. Buttz throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Potter drives through with a takedown into guard. Buttz utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
That's one minute gone in the round. Potter trying to control the position from guard on top but Buttz is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Buttz is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Potter is controlling him. Potter looking to sit in guard and control but Buttz gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top. Potter has his feet on Buttz's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work. A big right from Buttz misses.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Buttz's corner calls for a 1-2. Buttz obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range. Potter throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land. Buttz lands a jab to Potter's midsection. Potter uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Buttz. A big left from Buttz misses. Potter lunges at Buttz with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Buttz's hand. Buttz shoots and misses and Potter counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Buttz! Buttz avoids a series of strikes thrown by Potter.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Potter dominating with strikes here. Potter looking to finish with strikes here!
You get the feeling that Buttz really doesn't like being in this position too much.

It looks like Seymore Buttz has been cut. Buttz is not a happy chappy… he wants out of there.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Buttz can do anything to dispel that myth.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Buttz is in a horrible position here, under a barrage of strikes, he's managing to avoid any damage.
Potter has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission. Potter throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.

Potter won't let Buttz get back to his feet... He wants to keep the fight where it is for now. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Potter controlling the pace for now. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Walt Potter dominated that round. The cut man is working on Seymore Buttz's cut. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.
Potter takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch. Potter blocks a jab. Buttz darts in trying to clinch and Potter counters with a takedown into side control. The strikes coming from Potter are missing the target in this wave of attacks. Potter creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Buttz sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.
That's one minute gone in the round. Potter in side control, throwing shots but Buttz defends. Potter misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.

That's two minutes gone in the round. Potter sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Buttz defending well though. Well, if Potter is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Potter wants to take a breather but Buttz is having none of it. Buttz pushes Potter off looking to stand but Potter dives back in and keeps control.

We're going to have a standup here because Walt Potter wasn't active enough for the referee's liking. Potter fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Buttz avoids it really well and circles away.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Potter takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor. Buttz throws an off balance right hand
and Potter counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Buttz! Potter trying to control but he's not successful this time. Buttz wants to get back to his feet.
Buttz wriggling around on the bottom manages to avoid the strikes thrown by Potter.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Walt Potter dominated that second round. The cut man is working on Seymore Buttz's cut. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!
Potter changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Buttz tries to avoid it but Potter manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Buttz to the ground. Buttz escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Buttz misses with a jab, cross combination.
Buttz connects with a body shot. Buttz shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Potter sprawls well. Potter wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Buttz gets slowly back to his feet. Buttz throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Potter counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Buttz's guard now. Buttz is wriggling around but Potter manages to pass to half guard.
Potter seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
That's one minute gone in the round. Potter passes to side control. Potter misses with an attempted head punch from side control. Potter working the ground and pound but Buttz is defending the strikes. Potter postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.
Buttz is trying to escape and get back to his feet. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. The referee asks Potter politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Potter prefers to stall for the moment though. Potter throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage. Buttz wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done! Buttz managing to avoid any damage from the strikes thrown by Potter.

That has opened up Seymore Buttz's cut even more. Buttz tries to buck Potter off but he can't manage it. Buttz takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. Potter misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.
Seymore Buttz has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Walt Potter is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. Potter sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Potter working Buttz over with strikes here.
And that's the end of the fight! Walt Potter showed his dominance in that final round. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Potter, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
