Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, Carl Allen ! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Bjorn Helge Van de Nieuwenheijzen! The judges for this bout are Steven Brown, Sam Margolis and Chris Edwards.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Allen decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard. The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Allen connects with a nice short shot to Van de Nieuwenheijzen's temple. Allen will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Van de Nieuwenheijzen looking to work for a kimura from the bottom. Van de Nieuwenheijzen wants to control but Allen is keeping busy and won't allow it. Both fighters really going for it on the ground here! Van de Nieuwenheijzen tries to kick Allen off but Allen keeps his base steady and stays in half guard. Allen is looking to advance position but Van de Nieuwenheijzen won't allow it. Allen stops Van de Nieuwenheijzen from getting back to his feet.
Van de Nieuwenheijzen looks gassed! Allen frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount. Allen landing strikes from the mount and Van de Nieuwenheijzen is in trouble!
Van de Nieuwenheijzen is rocked! Allen is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Van de Nieuwenheijzen can't stay in a position like this for much longer.
Van de Nieuwenheijzen is still in real trouble! Can Allen finish him? Allen is working for a guillotine from mount but Van de Nieuwenheijzen frees his head quite easily.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for leaving it all in the cage! Allen working for a submission here. He's tucked his head under his opponent's arm, looking for an arm triangle. He's hopped off into side control, looking to tighten the submission... is it going to work? He's given up a good position looking for it. Van de Nieuwenheijzen looks OK. Oh, I spoke too soon, he's out! That must have been tighter than I thought! Excellent work there by Allen ! Submission of the night perhaps?
