The judges for this bout are Aleksei Zolotukhin, Illya Tyunina and Dmitry Maklakov.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Reva misses with a left hand
and Emelianenko connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Reva shoots and misses
and Emelianenko counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Reva dodges the punch combination from Emelianenko.
Emelianenko lands with a straight right. Reva didn't see that one coming.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Reva misses with a double jab
and Emelianenko counters with a series of strikes. Reva will be more careful next time no doubt.
Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.

Emelianenko swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.

and Reva counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Reva misses with a takedown attempt
and Emelianenko counters with a nice body shot.

Reva shoots in and bounces Emelianenko off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Emelianenko is looking to stand up but Reva isn't so interested in that idea.

Emelianenko on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Emelianenko tries to get out of the position.

Reva is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Reva drops back looking for a leg! Emelianenko is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Emelianenko manages to kick Reva off! Reva jumps back into Emelianenko's guard.
Emelianenko wants to stand up but Reva is controlling him.
Reva tries to free his leg and advance position but Emelianenko is retaining full guard.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!

Reva drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Reva jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Emelianenko knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Reva on the ground.

Emelianenko is looking to stand back up but Reva counters by passing into half guard. Oops... bit sloppy there by Emelianenko.

Emelianenko tries to kick Reva off but Reva keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
Emelianenko tries to kick Reva off in order to stand up. Reva Avoids the leg push though and dives into side control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Emelianenko is trying to buck Reva off.

Reva is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Emelianenko has escaped the position, nice work there.

Reva thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Reva is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Emelianenko knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Reva has hold of Emelianenko's arm. He's looking for a kimura. Emelianenko seems comfortable defending it but Reva has shifted his position slighty and is cranking on the arm! Emelianenko is real pain and he's forced to tap out! Emelianenko is disgusted with himself for not defending it better but Reva couldn't care less - he's delighted!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:42 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Alexander Reva! Alexander Reva retains his heavyweight title!
