The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
The fight stays on the outside here - Lawson looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Laos misses with a jab, cross combination.
Laos scores with a one two! Lawson had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.
Lawson shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Laos pinned against the cage. Laos gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Lawson gets tackled into the cage by Laos. Laos maintains the clinch.

Laos manages to break the clinch.
Nick Laos seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Laos takes the fight into the clinch.
Laos is trying to push Lawson away but Lawson has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.
Lawson fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Laos throws a blind hook that connects with the side of Lawsons head.
Laos tries to break free but Lawson pushes him back against the cage.

Laos escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Laos gets in close and instigates a clinch.

Laos pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Lawson is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Laos pulls him back up using the underhooks.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Brent Lawson. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Laos prevents a takedown attempt there.
Laos is trying to break the clinch but Lawson is controlling him.
Laos tries to break the clinch but Lawson is controlling the position.

Laos blocks an elbow strike.
Lawson drops down looking for an ankle pick but Laos pulls his leg out and moves away.

Lawson shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Laos is trying to defend but Lawson finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
Lawson takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Laos is trying to get back to full guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Lawson in particular looking to stall.

Lawson maintaining the dominant position here and is working for a kimura. He's locked it up! Laos could be in real trouble here! He's trying to wriggle out but Lawson has cracked it and Laos is screaming in pain - he's tapped out! Great finish by Lawson!
