Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Randy Couture (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Nathaniel Spax (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Nathaniel Spax will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Nathaniel Spax!
The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, and Timothy Bukovac.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Couture decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Couture looks exhausted already! Oh dear, he should have come in in better shape than this!
Spax taking some punishment here, with Couture in his half guard.
Couture throwing shots but Spax is blocking nicely.
Spax wants to improve his position but Couture is controlling well.

Spax had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Couture defends it easily.
Couture wants to control from the top but Spax keeps moving.
Couture stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Spax swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Couture lands a couple of decent looking shots.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Couture accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Couture in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Spax keeping moving, preventing Couture from controlling successfully.
Spax is trying to keep Couture in close.
Spax is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.
The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Nathaniel Spax wasn't active enough on the ground.
Couture feints and as Spax raises his hands in defense, Couture changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Spax is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

Spax wants to stand and escape but Couture is having none of it.

Couture makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.

Couture seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

Couture slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
Spax is looking to regain half guard here but Couture keeps moving and retains side control.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Couture has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.
Spax tries to clinch up
and Couture counters with a single leg into guard. Spax didn't expect that.
Couture sitting in guard, not really doing much.
Couture is in close to Spax's body, working some short punches and elbows.
Couture with a nice head shot there.
Spax really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Couture. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Couture wants to control from the top but Spax keeps moving.
Couture is pushing down on Spax's leg trying to pass to half guard. Spax is fighting to maintain full guard but Couture has managed to sneak the leg through.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!
Spax gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Couture counters with a nice double leg into side control. Spax won't be happy with that.
Spax can't do much from the bottom here.
Spax is looking to reverse the position.
Couture connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused Spax some visible discomfort.
Couture has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.
Couture drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Couture is chipping away with strikes.
Couture working the head and body with strikes.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Couture lands a nice forearm strike.

Couture advances nicely into full mount.
Couture pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Spax tries to reverse the position but Couture maintains control.
The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Couture cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
Couture is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Spax has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Spax!
Spax wants to stand but Couture is controlling his posture from full guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round.
Couture looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Couture thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage.
Couture looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Couture pulls Spax in to control the position.
Couture trying to control the position.
Spax must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Couture looking to hit a scissor sweep but Spax is one step ahead there.

Couture looking for a triangle here. Spax is fighting it but it looks tight! Couture pulls the arm across and this one won't last much longer! Nope, Spax is tapping out - this one is all over!
