The crowd seem to be enjoying Thompson's choice of entrance music: The Prodigy - Take me to the Hospital. James Thompson has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Sam Margolis, James Atkins and Steven Brown.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Thompson swings and misses with a shot to the body
enabling Wigfield to counter with a crisp jab.
Wigfield looks exhausted already! Oh dear, he should have come in in better shape than this!
Thompson moves to clinch but Wigfield breaks away
and Wigfield connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
No joy there for Thompson, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Thompson is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Thompson doesn't manage to clinch there - Wigfield circles away.
Wigfield shoots and misses
and Thompson counters with a crisp one two that drops Wigfield! Thompson thinks about following him to the mat for a moment but instead steps back and waves Wigfield to his feet! Wigfield is in big trouble!
That's two minutes gone in the round.
Thompson dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Wigfield takes one on the chin but seems OK.
Thompson is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Wigfield ducks under a wild hook from Thompson.
That's three minutes gone in the round.
Thompson tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Wigfield paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Thompson lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw.
That's four minutes gone in the round.
Thompson tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Wigfield was well out of range. Poor timing from Thompson.
Thompson tries to clinch up.
Thompson throws a perfectly timed hook that sends Wigfield crashing down! Wigfield tries to stagger back to his feet but Thompson just hammers him until the ref stops the fight! A confused Wigfield asks the ref what just happened. Poor fella.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:46 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). James Thompson!
