Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Matt Serra (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Nick Fairley (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Matt Serra!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Nick Fairley!
The judges for this bout are Matti Vanhoillinen, Roosa Järviläinen and Arvi Lind.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Fairley shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.

Serra looking to work for a kimura from the bottom.
Fairley thows a huge punch but Serra dodges it nicely.
Serra is trying to get back to full guard.
Serra wants to control but Fairley is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Serra is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Fairley's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Fairley's back!
Fairley rolls and manages to get back to half guard. Nicely done.
Fairley is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Serra blocks the strikes from Fairley.
Fairley wants to control but Serra is keeping busy.

Serra is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

Fairley is trying to control but Serra passes into side control!

Serra is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Fairley knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Fairley tries to escape the position - he's now mounted. Is that better or worse? Hard to tell!
Serra can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Fairley is looking to escape.
Fairley keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Serra could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Fairley wants to improve position but instead he's given up his back.
Fairley manages to reverse the position and now he's in Serra's guard. Nice work there by Fairley.
Serra is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.

Serra is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Serra keeping moving, preventing Fairley from controlling successfully.
Serra is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Fairley slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.

Serra has his foot on Fairley's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Fairley works his way back into a safe position though.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Fairley engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.

Serra is looking for a triangle but Fairley pushes his legs off easily.
Serra not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

Serra had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Fairley defends it easily.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Fairley accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Fairley working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Fairley trying to control the position from guard on top but Serra is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Nick Fairley will probably get the nod.
That's time! Serra's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.



Serra shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Fairley throws a strike from the bottom that misses.
Fairley gets back to full guard.

Serra got a little sloppy there for a moment and Fairley has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Serra has managed to get both his arms back between Fairley's legs - danger averted.

Serra drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Serra jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Fairley working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Serra doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Serra manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Fairley wants to hit a switch here but Serra passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for Fairley there!
Serra looking to control but Fairley is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
Fairley is looking to get to half guard.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Fairley is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
Fairley manages to regain half guard. Good work.
Fairley misses with some strikes from the bottom.
Serra wants to lay and pray for a moment but Fairley keeps working.

Serra is looking for a kimura but Fairley is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Serra to get the leverage.
Fairley is looking for a sweep. Serra is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Fairley has hold of a guillotine but he's not going to be able to crank on it really with only half guard, so it's no trouble for Serra. Oh but Fairley has got full guard now! Oh boy! This one could be over very soon! Serra goes limp - he's gone! Fairley jumps up and celebrates with the crowd - fantastic submission finish!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:05 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Guillotine). Nick Fairley!
