Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Tony Novotny (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Max Power (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Tony Novotny could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Max Power's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of

The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Novotny misses with a takedown and Power counters with a quick right hand to the jaw. Power tries to bum rush Novotny with a series of wild strikes but Novotny uses good footwork to avoid the assault. Donk. Power catches Novotny right on the button with a cross. Max Power seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Power moves to clinch but Novotny breaks away and Novotny counters with a series of strikes. Power will be more careful next time no doubt. Power tries to clinch and Novotny counters with a single leg into guard. Power didn't expect that. Novotny trying to control the position from guard on top but Power is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Power is pulling down on Novotny's head. It's preventing any offense from Novotny, at least for the moment. Novotny postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Power is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Novotny, into his guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Power wants to pass the guard but Novotny is keeping the position. Power lands a couple of decent looking shots. Power sitting in guard, not really doing much. Power really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Novotny. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Power postures up.
Power sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Novotny's guard. Power looks to score some points with some ground and pound. Still in half guard, Power seems content to control.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Novotny tries to get to full guard but Power has control of the leg. Power controlling the pace. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up. Novotny looking for submissions from an awkward position here. The referee calls for the fighters to work.

Power works his way into side control. Power is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Novotny's shoulder. That is not cool. Power in side control lands a decent elbow.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Power tries to move to mount but Novotny blocks the move with his legs. Power landing a few strikes. Novotny tries to buck Power off but Power is having none of it. Novotny is breathing heavily. Power taking a breather here. Novotny is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Power has just dragged him back down to the mat. Power controls the position. Power wants to lay and pray for a moment but Novotny keeps working.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Power prevents Novotny from escaping the position. Power controls the position. Novotny stops Power from passing to mount.
The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Max Power. Novotny gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Power to score an easy takedown into full guard. Novotny keeping moving, preventing Power from controlling successfully. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Max Power dominated that round. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!
Novotny has his takedown stuffed and Power decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Novotny's guard. Novotny is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Power slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up. Power pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Novotny is keeping the position for now. Power sitting in guard, not really doing much. Novotny is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. OK we're going to have a standup here. Max Power hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart. Power throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Novotny counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Power's guard now. Power is controlling Novotny's posture. Novotny stopping the sweep attempt from Power. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Novotny with a flurry of punches that miss. Novotny trying to control but Power is working from the bottom. Novotny throws and elbow that misses. Power uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Novotny's guard. Nice move by Power! Power working some strikes from top position.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Power can do anything to dispel that myth. Power keeping full guard, as Novotny tries to pass. Max Power has got the better of the ground game so far. Power keeping moving, preventing Novotny from controlling successfully. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Novotny wants to pass the guard but Power is keeping the position. Novotny trying to control the position from guard on top but Power is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Power is pulling down on Novotny's head to control his posture. Novotny throws a strike but Power rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top. Power stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Novotny swivels though and keeps the full guard. Power wants to control from the top but Novotny keeps moving. Power's corner is telling him to maintain position.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground. Novotny misses with a double jab
and Power counters with a left to the body. Power closes the distance but Novotny moves to the side and Novotny counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Novotny. Power bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Novotny's guard. Power must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Power pushes down on Novotny's leg and manages to get into half guard. Power controlling the action here. Power tries to pass to full mount but Novotny defends it. Novotny is trying to stand.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
A close second round but Max Power will probably get the nod - 10:9. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!
Power tries to clinch up. Novotny shoots and misses and Power holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch. Power prevents the takedown attempt.

Novotny has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Power is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Tony Novotny. That's going to take a lot out of him. Novotny has Power pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Power manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing. Power pushes off an throws an elbow but Novotny leans to the side and avoids it. We're back to clinching against the cage. Novotny blocks a punch to the side of the head.

It looks like Tony Novotny has been cut. Power lands on the inside with an uppercut. Power has hold of one of Novotny's legs. Novotny is fighting the takedown attempt but Power gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard. Both fighters are breathing heavily. Power not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up. Novotny wants to sweep but no luck.

Power pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage. Novotny is looking to get to half guard. Power content just to control the position here. Power's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Novotny tries to get back to half guard but can't. Power lands a nice shot to the head. The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Power cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!

And that's the end of the fight! Max Power comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. Well Power has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
