Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Ray Mercer! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Felix Ramirez! The judges for this bout are Reed Andrews, Alyssa Summers and Lou da Vinci.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Mercer cracks Ramirez with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd. Mercer cracks Ramirez with a big right hand that sends him to the floor! Ramirez looks wobbly but he's sprung back up to his feet straight away… can Mercer finish him?
It looks like Felix Ramirez has been cut. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Mercer keeps the fight on the outside. Mercer misses with a jab, cross combination.
Ramirez rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Mercer moves out of range and avoids them all easily. No joy there for Mercer, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

Mercer swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Ramirez counters with a shoot takedown into half guard. Ramirez content to sit in half guard and control for a moment. Ramirez seems to be trying to get a kimura but instead Mercer has recovered full guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Ramirez content to stall in guard here. Ramirez has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Mercer is proving hard to escape from. We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon. Ramirez controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
The ref stands the fighters back up. Felix Ramirez was stalling too much, according to the referee. Mercer looks to land a combination but Ramirez avoids it well. Mercer slips under a jab from Ramirez. Ramirez should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete. Ramirez tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Ramirez shoots in but no luck this time. Mercer rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Ramirez moves out of range and avoids them all easily. Ramirez checks the leg kick. Ramirez tries to work over Mercer's front leg with a kick but Mercer checks it. Mercer misses with a left hand and Ramirez counters with a left and a right that stings Mercer. Mercer leaves Ramirez with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. Mercer throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Ramirez counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Mercer! Ramirez looks gassed! Ramirez wants to stand but Mercer is holding on to him, trying to stop him posturing up.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Ramirez looking to ground and pound but Mercer is blocking nicely. Mercer wriggling around on the bottom manages to avoid the strikes thrown by Ramirez.
Ramirez controlling the position easily from mount. Ramirez throwing sloppy strikes, which aren't doing any damage. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
That's four minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Ramirez tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position. Ramirez's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige. As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action. Mercer wants to hold on but Ramirez pushes him away. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Ray Mercer will probably get the nod. The cut man is working on Felix Ramirez's cut. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.

Mercer cracks Ramirez with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business. Mercer tries to bum rush Ramirez with a series of wild strikes but Ramirez uses good footwork to avoid the assault. Ramirez drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles. Ray Mercer is winning the standup battle so far. Mercer swinging wildly here.
A leg kick checked by Ramirez. Ray Mercer is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Ramirez misses with a few strikes there.
Mercer is using his reach advantage well here, landing the more effective single shots from range. Mercer throws a nice looking combination but Ramirez bobs and weaves to avoid any damage. Ramirez misses with a wild combination.
Ramirez tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Ramirez throws a low kick but it's checked well by Mercer. Mercer throws a leg kick but Ramirez sees it coming and checks it nicely. Mercer is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Ramirez. Mercer dips down and scores with a jab to the body. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Mercer misses with an uppercut
and Ramirez counters with a takedown into side control. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
That's one minute gone in the round. Ramirez tries to land with some ground and pound but misses. Mercer is not content to let Ramirez control the position. Ramirez just content to control the position. Ramirez looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.
That's two minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Ramirez is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Mercer is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now. Ramirez throwing strikes but Mercer manages to buck up and roll into a nice reversal - now he's on top in side control!
That's three minutes gone in the round. Mercer trying to control the action but Ramirez is working from the bottom. Ramirez is trying to improve his position. Mercer is looking to take a break and control but Ramirez is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. You can see the frustration on Ramirez's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Ramirez can do anything to dispel that myth. Ramirez is not content to let Mercer control the position. Mercer stands up. No luck with that takedown attempt from Ramirez. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Ray Mercer dominated that second round. The cut man is working on Felix Ramirez's cut. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!
Ramirez shoots for a double leg takedown but Mercer sprawls well. He's pushed Ramirez's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. Mercer lands a left and a right that send Ramirez crashing to the mat, dazed. Mercer thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet! This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Ramirez avoids a punch combination nicely.

Ray Mercer seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Mercer throws a nice looking combination but Ramirez bobs and weaves to avoid any damage. Ramirez shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Mercer as he jumps to the side. Mercer misses with the combination.
Mercer missing with a left hand there. Ramirez was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one. No joy there for Mercer, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Mercer fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Ramirez on the side of the head. Mercer is using his height advantage well here, landing a good percentage of his punches. Ramirez tries to clinch up. Both fighters are breathing heavily.
That's one minute gone in the round. Mercer misses with a left hand and Ramirez counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground. Mercer manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Ramirez manages to get himself to full guard.
Ramirez has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Mercer can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Ramirez pulls Mercer in close to his closed guard and prevents Mercer from doing any damage or advancing position. Ramirez throws his legs up looking for a submission but Mercer uses it to pass to side control.
Mercer wants to control but Ramirez is keeping him busy.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Ramirez is trying to get back to half guard. Felix Ramirez has got the better of the ground game so far. Mercer trying to control the position but Ramirez is working away. Ramirez is looking for a sweep. Mercer wants to control but Ramirez is keeping him busy.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Mercer is really struggling to control Ramirez but he's trying to hold on to the position.
We're going to have a standup here because Ray Mercer wasn't active enough for the referee's liking. Mercer misses with a jab, cross combination.
Ramirez tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion. Mercer falls off balance throwing a combination
and Ramirez holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch. Ramirez fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Ray Mercer has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Felix Ramirez.

The referee is keeping an eye on Ramirez - much more stalling and he will separate the fighters.

And that's the end of the fight! Ray Mercer showed his dominance in that final round. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Mercer, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
