The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Styles tries to close the distance and clinch up but Karte swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Karte lands a high kick!
Styles tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Karte manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Styles tries to clinch but Karte moves out of range.

and Styles counters with a left to the body.
Karte slaps away a takedown attempt from Styles, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Styles misses with a takedown attempt - Karte sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

Styles is standing up over Karte. Karte looks to escape but Styles dives into side control.

Styles is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Karte has escaped the position, nice work there.
Styles tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Styles has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Styles has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Styles trying to control the position but Karte is working away.
Karte bucks up and tries to throw Styles off but instead Styles has got his back!
Styles lands with a big left hand that may well have hurt his opponent. Can Karte hold on?!

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
