Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Aaron Smith (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Junior Dos Santos (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Dos Santos feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Smiths jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!

and Dos Santos counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.
Dos Santos gets cracked there but stands up to it.

Smith stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Dos Santos swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Smith drops back looking for a leg! Dos Santos is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Dos Santos manages to kick Smith off! Smith jumps back into Dos Santos's guard.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Smith postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Dos Santos is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Smith, into his guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Dos Santos wanted to stand there but Smith had control of the position.

Dos Santos fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Dos Santos throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Smith sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Dos Santos throws a combination. Smith tries to block but a couple of punches get through.
Smith shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Dos Santos sprawls well. Dos Santos wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Smith gets slowly back to his feet.

A looping hook to the body misses from Dos Santos. Smith does a little dance to reset his feet.
Smith shoots in for a takedown but Dos Santos shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

Smith swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Dos Santos.
Smith is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.

No luck with that takedown attempt from Smith.

Nice straight punches there by Dos Santos. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Dos Santos.

Junior Dos Santos dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

and Dos Santos counters with a straight right hand.
Smith changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Dos Santos tries to avoid it but Smith manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Dos Santos to the ground. Dos Santos escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

and Dos Santos counters with a stiff right hand.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Aaron Smith. That's going to take a lot out of him.

and Dos Santos counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Dos Santos misses with a double jab
and Smith counters with a nice double leg into side control. Dos Santos won't be happy with that.
Dos Santos is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Smith asserts his dominance and retains side control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Smith is working to tighten is grip on Dos Santos's neck. He's isolated an arm and is working for an arm triangle. Dos Santos has recognised the danger and is trying to turn with the submission but Smith is really squeezing tight and eventually Dos Santos passes out! Smith breaks the hold and jumps onto the cage to celebrate! Submission of the night, I'd say!
