Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Mike Pierce! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Adam Rabago! The judges for this bout are Stewart Dunkirk, Frank Dennis and Cecil Peabody.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Rabago looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Pierce is fending him off so far but Rabago persists. Nope, Pierce circles away and we're back to standing. Pierce bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control. Rabago is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Pierce's leg. He's managed it. Nice work. Pierce thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas. Rabago makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Rabago. Rabago had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Pierce is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Rabago Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Pierce's back instead. Pierce fending off the submission attempt from Rabago. Pierce is really stuck here.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Pierce preventing the rear naked choke attempt from Rabago.
That's one minute gone in the round. Oooh a big shot gets through from Rabago. Many more shots like that and the referee will have to think about stepping in!
Rabago looking to hold on to the position here but Pierce rolls and ends up regaining guard.
Pierce is breathing heavily. Rabago wants to control from the top but Pierce keeps moving. Pierce wants to sweep but no luck. Rabago forces his way into half guard. Rabago is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Rabago seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Pierce does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back. The fighters are battling for position here. Pierce manages to regain full guard. Nice work.
That's two minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Pierce bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Rabago's guard. Rabago is trying to keep Pierce in close.
Rabago looking to sweep here. No luck so far. The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily. Rabago escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Pierce gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance. Rabago is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move. Pierce tries to regain full guard. Instead though, Rabago has advanced to mount. Uh oh. Rabago wants to finish this one by submission but Pierce is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Rabago.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Pierce looking to escape from mount but he's given up his back! Rabago is looking for the choke from the back position but Pierce is controlling his hands well. Rabago trying to control. Pierce breaks Rabago's hooks off and manages to turn into his guard.
Rabago looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Rabago wants to get back to his feet but Pierce is in a dominant position and won't allow it. Rabago has his foot on Pierce's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Pierce works his way back into a safe position though. Pierce with a nice head shot there.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Rabago keeping moving, preventing Pierce from controlling successfully. Pierce loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Pierce trying to control the position from guard on top but Rabago is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Pierce has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. Rabago looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Pierce passes into side control.
Pierce lands an elbow. Rabago gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard. The fighters are battling for position here. Rabago manages to regain full guard. Nice work. Pierce throwing strikes from guard but Rabago blocks nicely. Rabago manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Pierce manages to get himself to full guard.

Pierce won't allow Rabago to sweep him here. Rabago throws some shots to the body, keeping his opponent honest.
Rabago is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move. Pierce is staying active underneath Rabago, who seems content to just control the action from this position. Pierce is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Rabago scores with a couple of nice shots. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Rabago uses his free foot to push down on Pierce's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Pierce. Rabago can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Pierce is looking to escape.
That's one minute gone in the round. Rabago is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Pierce can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.

Pierce defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from Rabago. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Rabago landing strikes from the mount and Pierce is in trouble! Pierce regains half guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Pierce is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Pierce kicks off Rabago and gets to his feet. Pierce instigates a clinch. Rabago pulls guard effortlessly. Pierce avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Rabago is on top in guard.
Rabago slips effortlessly into side control - very nice. Adam Rabago has got the better of the ground game so far. Rabago taking a breather here. Rabago in side control lands a nice looking series of punches and elbows.

Rabago decides to take the fight back to the feet. Rabago has his takedown stuffed and Pierce counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Pierce. Pierce looking to pass the guard. Pierce wants to control from the top but Rabago keeps moving. Pierce pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Rabago is keeping the position for now. Pierce connects with a couple of short punches. Rabago looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Pierce pushing down on Rabago's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work.

Mike Pierce has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Adam Rabago. Pierce has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Rabago regains guard immediately. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Rabago lands an upkick as Pierce stands over him. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Rabago is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

A close second round but Adam Rabago will probably get the nod - 10:9. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!
Pierce will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. Rabago with a poor takedown and Pierce counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground. Rabago working a defensive guard here.
Pierce throws a strike but Rabago rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top. Pierce can't keep his opponent in guard - Rabago advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount. Rabago prevents Pierce from improving his position. Rabago is working for a submission of some sort.

That's one minute gone in the round. Rabago is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Pierce! Rabago landing shots from mount. Pierce takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position. Pierce is squirming around, avoiding Rabago's attempts to control the action. Rabago working Pierce over with strikes here. Rabago working from mount. He moves in close and looks like he might be going for an arm triangle... He's hopped off to the side and he's transitioned into an Anaconda choke. Pierce turning a nasty shade of purple. He's refusing to tap but he's gone! He's out! The ref rips Rabago off and cradles Pierce's limp body as Rabago celebrates with his corner.
