Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Mike Rolla! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
10 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Monika Szlesz! The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, and .
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Szlesz with a lazy takedown attempt and Rolla connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle. Szlesz throws a quick inside leg kick. Rolla throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.
Rolla gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here. Szlesz takes an elbow to the temple. Szlesz breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Szlesz gets a takedown into half guard. Szlesz wants to pass the guard but Rolla is defending well. Szlesz is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Rolla won't allow Szlesz to pass to mount.
That's one minute gone in the round. Well, if Szlesz is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
Szlesz decides to stand up. Rolla pushes Szlesz up against the cage in a clinch. Szlesz's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. Rolla is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Szlesz's half guard. Szlesz is pressing down on Rolla's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it. Rolla tries to stand but Szlesz is controlling from the bottom. Rolla looking to pass the guard. Rolla being controlled here momentarily.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Szlesz manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Rolla manages to get himself to full guard.
Szlesz wants to pass the guard but Rolla is keeping the position. Szlesz is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long. It looks like Szlesz might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.
That's three minutes gone in the round. The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up. Szlesz postures up.
Szlesz slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
The ref stands the fighters back up. Monika Szlesz was stalling too much, according to the referee. Nice sprawl there from Szlesz as Rolla shoots in. Szlesz gets a takedown into half guard. Still in half guard, Szlesz seems content to control. Rolla is trying to control but can't.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Rolla missing with punches from the bottom.
Szlesz content to sit in half guard and control for a moment. If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Monika Szlesz. Nice sprawl there from Szlesz as Rolla shoots in. Szlesz is looking to clinch but Rolla is avoiding it.
Szlesz fails to land with a series of punches.
Szlesz tries to close the distance and clinch but Rolla swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Szlesz bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Rolla is not content to let Szlesz control the position. Rolla trying to control but Szlesz flips him over like a cheap hooker and has his back! And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Monika Szlesz dominated that round. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.
Szlesz darts in and clinches Rolla up against the cage. Rolla pulls guard successfully.
Szlesz gets to his feet - Rolla follows without any prompting. Rolla fails with the takedown and Szlesz counters with a single leg into guard. Rolla didn't expect that. Szlesz is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position. Szlesz tries to free his leg and advance position but Rolla is retaining full guard. Rolla is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Szlesz defends well. Szlesz pushes down on Rolla's leg and manages to get into half guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Szlesz stops Rolla from getting back to his feet.
Rolla regains full guard. Nicely done. Rolla wants to control but Szlesz passes easily into half guard.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Szlesz with a momentary lay and pray from half guard. Rolla trying to hold on to Szlesz's head to control him but Szlesz postures up.
Rolla wants to improve his position but Szlesz is controlling well.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup. Szlesz has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount. Rolla is trying to escape the mount.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Rolla tries to control the position but Szlesz now has his back.
Rolla wants to control his opponent's hands but Szlesz gets his hands free. Szlesz just keeping the dominant position. He can't wait too long though, otherwise the referee will stand them back up.

Rolla holding both Szlesz 's hands and preventing any damage. Szlesz keeps control of the position easily here as Rolla tries to buck him off.
Szlesz has his hand under the chin of his opponent looking for the choke. He's nearly got it! This one could be all over! But no, Rolla has freed his hand and lives to survive another… well, another couple of seconds at least!
Szlesz controls the action. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Monika Szlesz showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. This is the final round!
Szlesz throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Rolla was covering up waiting for the punch and Szlesz finishes the takedown easily into guard. Rolla is trying to keep Szlesz in close.
Rolla is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Szlesz stands up from Rolla's guard - Szlesz perhaps looking for a knockout. Szlesz tries to clinch but Rolla is having none of it.

Szlesz is looking for a sweep. Rolla is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Rolla not throwing his punches with enough precision this time. Szlesz gets full guard. Rolla has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player. Rolla wants to control from the top but Szlesz keeps moving. Rolla postures up in Szlesz's guard and throws a big left but Szlesz blocks it.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Szlesz is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move. Rolla is looking for a sweep. Szlesz is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Szlesz slows the pace down in half guard.

Rolla is in a bad position, trying to hold on for dear life but he is really struggling to maintain any sort of control. Rolla wants to sweep but Szlesz has passed to side control! The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Rolla trying to remain calm as Szlesz controls from the top position. You can see the frustration on Rolla's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. Rolla is looking to regain half guard here but Szlesz keeps moving and retains side control. Rolla manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu! Rolla prevents Szlesz from standing back up.
Szlesz is refusing to be controlled, as Rolla sits in half guard. Mike Rolla has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Monika Szlesz is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach. Szlesz wants to control but Rolla is keeping busy.
And that's the end of the fight! Monika Szlesz comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. I've got Szlesz winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
