Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Adam Macku (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Thorbjorn Rekdal (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rekdal checks a low kick. Bone on bone - not my idea of a good time.
Macku takes an uppercut right on the jaw but it doesn't phase him.
It looks like Adam Macku has been cut.
Rekdal thuds a left hand into Macku's body.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Macku is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Rekdal is surviving well by controlling Macku's body position as best he can.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

and Macku counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.

Rekdal wants to sweep but no luck.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Macku tries to close the distance and clinch but Rekdal swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Rekdal moves out of range as Macku throws a body kick.
Macku shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Rekdal counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Rekdal has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Rekdal there as he acknowledges the shot.

Rekdal throws a right hand that misses
and Macku counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Rekdal's guard now.
Macku wants to control from the top but Rekdal keeps moving.
Rekdal has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Macku lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.

Rekdal throws a hook but Macku blocks it.
Macku fails with an attempt to clinch.
Macku looks for the body kick but Rekdal saw that one coming.
Rekdal lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Macku backs up against the cage.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Rekdal tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Macku was well out of range. Poor timing from Rekdal.
Macku looks to land a left hand but Rekdal moved out of range nicely.
Macku fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Macku is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Rekdal is just riding it out for now. Macku eventually gives up the hold.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Adam Macku.
I think Rekdal has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
