Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Whetu Karehana (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and George StPierre (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Whetu Karehana! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, George StPierre! The judges for this bout are Donatello Bradman, Eliza Hachem and Winston Howard.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Karehana darts in trying to clinch and StPierre counters with a stiff right hand. Karehana tries to grapple but his opponent circles and StPierre counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw. StPierre throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Karehana tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. StPierre is in Karehana's guard. StPierre must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. StPierre pushing down on Karehana's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work. Still in half guard, StPierre seems content to control. StPierre wants to stand but Karehana has hold of a leg and an arm, so he's trapped for now. StPierre is controlling the pace.
Let's hope that StPierre has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

George StPierre has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet. Karehana moves to clinch but StPierre breaks away and StPierre counters by moving into the clinch. StPierre gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground. StPierre trying to control but Karehana is working from the bottom. StPierre is looking to stand up but Karehana won't let him. StPierre not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
That's two minutes gone in the round. StPierre trying to pass the guard. He's being very persistent here but Karehana manages to land a sweep and now he's on top! StPierre tries to land a sweep but no joy. Karehana pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. StPierre is keeping the position for now. Karehana has gone for a leg lock! StPierre slips out almost immediately though and dives into Karehana's guard. StPierre controlling from the top position.
That's three minutes gone in the round. StPierre has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Karehana is proving hard to escape from. StPierre pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Karehana is keeping the position for now. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as StPierre accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. StPierre seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up. Karehana keeping full guard, as StPierre tries to pass.
OK we're going to have a standup here. George StPierre hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart. Karehana shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and StPierre counters by moving into the clinch. Karehana is breathing heavily. Karehana misses with some punches.
StPierre pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. StPierre closes the distance and clinches. Karehana has StPierre pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. StPierre manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing. StPierre scores with an uppercut up the middle. Karehana has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. StPierre is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Whetu Karehana. That's going to take a lot out of him. StPierre breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Karehana closes the distance looking to clinch and StPierre decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Karehana's guard. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
George StPierre dominated that round. That's time! Karehana's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.
StPierre shoots in and bounces Karehana off the cage to secure the takedown into guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. StPierre wants to control from the top but Karehana keeps moving. StPierre wants to get up but he can't break Karehana's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Karehana is trying to keep StPierre in close.
StPierre throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
That's one minute gone in the round. StPierre with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal. StPierre trying to control but Karehana is working from the bottom. StPierre looking to control the position here, rather than advance.
The ref stands the fighters back up. George StPierre was stalling too much, according to the referee. Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts StPierre, as that shot connected.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. Karehana tries to keep at a distance but StPierre has taken the fight into the clinch. StPierre breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
StPierre moves into the clinch. StPierre is stalling here.
Karehana goes for a takedown in the clinch but StPierre prevents it.
StPierre has picked Karehana up - he's going for a ride! StPierre dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard. Karehana keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound. StPierre wants to get back to his feet.
StPierre is controlling the pace.
That's three minutes gone in the round. StPierre's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige. It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
That's four minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by George StPierre. StPierre closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Karehana quickly recovers to half guard. Karehana tries to get to full guard but StPierre has control of the leg. StPierre controlling the pace. StPierre escapes and gets back to his feet. StPierre throws a series of strikes that have Karehana backpedaling.
StPierre rushes Karehana and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
George StPierre showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!

StPierre turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control! StPierre is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Karehana has escaped the position, nice work there. George StPierre has got the better of the ground game so far. StPierre tries to score with some ground and pound. Karehana controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage. StPierre just content to control the position. StPierre goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Karehana has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for StPierre but great work by Karehana. Both fighters are breathing heavily.
That's one minute gone in the round. StPierre tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Karehana wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control. StPierre gets back to half guard. StPierre wants to control but Karehana is keeping busy and won't allow it. StPierre looking for submissions off his back. StPierre desperately trying to maintain half guard. StPierre makes some distance and scrambles quickly back to his feet. Nice work! Whetu Karehana seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Karehana tries to clinch and StPierre holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch. Karehana throws a punch but it's blocked by StPierre. StPierre manages to break the clinch.
StPierre has Karehana up against the cage in a clinch.
StPierre gets underhooks to prevent Karehana's takedown attempt.
StPierre will no doubt start fighting again in a minute but for now he's just having a little rest, leaning Karehana up against the cage. StPierre ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. StPierre no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard. Karehana drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and StPierre dives on top into guard. StPierre trying to stand up but can't free himself from Karehana's guard. StPierre is stalling in the full guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. StPierre throwing strikes from guard but Karehana blocks nicely. StPierre trying to control but Karehana is working from the bottom. StPierre's corner is telling him to maintain position.
That's four minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by George StPierre. StPierre lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook. StPierre scores with a body shot.
StPierre closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Karehana quickly recovers to half guard. StPierre performing his best blanket impression for a moment. StPierre is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Karehana has managed to free his arm - good work. StPierre missing with some ground and pound from the half guard.
And that's the end of the fight! George StPierre comfortably won the final round on my scorecard. Well StPierre has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
