PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Sibi Abubacar (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Hong Choii (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters will be looking to make this an exciting fight for the fans, I'm sure!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Sibi Abubacar!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Hong Choii!
The judges for this bout are Shirou Masuda, Sosuke Kotani and Yasuomi Hirokawa.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Abubacar falls off balance throwing a combination
and Abubacar takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Choii shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Abubacar stalks Choii and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Choii's face. Choii staggers backwards, shaken.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Choii throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Abubacar's waist but Abubacar gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Choii off to one side.

Choii instigates a clinch.
Choii goes for a takedown attempt but Abubacar pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Sibi Abubacar has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Hong Choii.
Abubacar tries to clinch but Choii moves away
and Choii counters with a thumping low kick.

Choii moves into the clinch successfully.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Choii has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Abubacar is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.

Choii manages to pull guard.

Choii escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Abubacar gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Abubacar decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
Abubacar wants to clinch but Choii slips to the side

and Choii counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Choii.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Choii drags the fight down to the ground.

Abubacar stands and steps away. Choii gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
Choii shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Abubacar misses with a combination
and Choii counters with a big head kick but Abubacar shrugs it off.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Choii with a poor takedown
and Abubacar counters with a left and a right that stings Choii.
Abubacar throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Choii counters with a flying knee. Nice.
Abubacar misses with a double jab

and Choii counters by moving into the clinch.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Hong Choii dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Abubacar wants to clinch

and Choii counters with a single leg into guard. Abubacar didn't expect that.
Abubacar wants to stand and escape but Choii is having none of it.
Choii trying to control but Abubacar is working from the bottom.

Hong Choii has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.
Abubacar misses with a combination
and Choii counters with an inside leg kick.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Choii drives through and clinches with Abubacar against the cage.

Choii breaks the clinch.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Choii instigates a clinch.
Abubacar tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Choii smiles and moves away.
Abubacar tries to clinch but fails miserably

and Choii counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Choii trying to control from Abubacar's half guard. Abubacar has other ideas though and has regained full guard.
Choii sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Abubacar's guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Abubacar scrambles, trying to get to his feet, but Choii manages to mount him!
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Abubacar's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Choii throws an elbow from mount that misses. Lucky escape for Abubacar because Choii loaded up on that one.
Choii looking to control and managing it successfully.
Choii throwing sloppy strikes, which aren't doing any damage.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Hong Choii showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!


Choii plants his feet and lands a nice head kick!
Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.
Abubacar tries to grapple but his opponent circles
and Choii counters with a nice uppercut.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Choii lands with a straight right. Abubacar didn't see that one coming.
Abubacar takes a head kick and keeps coming.


It looks like Sibi Abubacar has been cut.
Choii fails with a takedown attempt from distance.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Abubacar tries to grapple but his opponent circles

and Choii counters by moving into the clinch.
Abubacar takes a knee to the side of the body.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Choii is trying to push Abubacar away but Abubacar has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.
Abubacar keeps control of Choii as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.
Abubacar tries to work over Choii's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.
Choii can't get the takedown.
Abubacar trying to control the position but instead, Choii has worked for underhooks and has pushed Abubacar into the cage.
Choii has had enough of the clinch but Abubacar keeps him there for the moment.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Choii decides to pull guard.
Abubacar wants to stand and escape but instead Choii has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.
Choii missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.

And that's the end of the fight!
Hong Choii comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Choii has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3 rounds of action, we go to the scorecards for a decision.
