Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jamie Cooney! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Wyatt Earp! The judges for this bout are Lou da Vinci, David Schapiro and Bruno Lombardi.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Earp misses with a combination
enabling Cooney to counter with a crisp jab. Cooney jabs Earp to the body, keeping him at a distance. Earp takes one on the chin but keeps coming.
Earp falls off balance throwing a combination
and Cooney counters into the clinch. Nicely done. Cooney holding his opponent close, against the cage.
Cooney gets underhooks to prevent Earp's takedown attempt.

Jamie Cooney has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Wyatt Earp. Cooney breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Earp throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Cooney counters with a lovely straight right hand! Earp throws a left and a right that both miss
and Cooney counters with a stiff right hand. This has been an exciting period of action! Cooney decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Cooney is controlling the pace.
That's one minute gone in the round. Cooney is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound. Earp tries to get to full guard but Cooney has control of the leg. Cooney is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount! Cooney controlling the position easily from mount. Cooney landing strikes from the mount. Cooney is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Earp can't stay in a position like this for much longer.
Earp tries to get back to half guard but can't. Earp takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Cooney lands a couple of nice shots there from mount.
Cooney controlling the position easily from mount. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Earp can do anything to dispel that myth. This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Earp is in a horrible position here. Cooney smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.
Earp is trying desperately to improve position. Cooney dominating with strikes here.
Earp is rocked! Cooney drops a big elbow. That's hurt Earp! More shots from Cooney and the ref steps in! The fight is over!
