Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Tota Lidel (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jimmy Russo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Lidel kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Dry Kill Logic - Lost. Russo has chosen Destroy Everything as his entrance music. Well, I have no idea who's going to take this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 13 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Jimmy Russo!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Russo throws an ugly left hook that misses
and Lidel counters with a nice uppercut.
Russo throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
A slapping leg kick lands for Lidel.
Russo fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.
No joy there for Russo, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Nice uppercut there from Lidel.


It looks like Jimmy Russo has been cut.

and Lidel counters with a nice leg kick.
Lidel misses with the combination.
Russo throws a poor cross that misses
and Lidel counters with a head kick. That will keep Russo thinking before he tries any more sloppy attacks!

and Lidel counters with a flying knee. Nice.

and Lidel counters with a straight right hand.

and Russo counters with a nice low kick that buckles Lidel's knee momentarily.

and Lidel counters with a lovely straight right hand!

Russo looks for a takedown but Lidel sprawls well.

and Russo counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Russo.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Russo drops back looking for a leg! Lidel is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Lidel manages to kick Russo off! Russo jumps back into Lidel's guard.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Russo postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Lidel is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Russo, into his guard.
Lidel wants to control from the top but Russo keeps moving.
Russo wants to sweep but no luck.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Russo manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Russo throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.

Russo digs a good hook to Lidel's body.
Russo throws a lazy uppercut
and Lidel counters with a nice body kick.
Lidel throws a leg kick
and Russo counters with a nice leg kick.
Russo slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.
Lidel rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Lidel takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.
Lidel tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Russo changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Lidel tries to avoid it but Russo manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Lidel to the ground. Lidel escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Russo throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Tota Lidel is winning the standup battle so far.

and Lidel makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick.
Russo swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Lidel fakes with the hands and throws a leg kick but Russo is out of range.

Russo gets a clinch.
Russo blocks an uppercut.
Lidel lands a right hand that snaps the head of Russo backwards.
Russo changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Lidel fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Russo throws a combination that misses
and Lidel makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick.

and Lidel counters with a nice low kick that buckles Russo's knee momentarily.
Lidel tried to score with a low kick but Russo checks it.
Tota Lidel is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Lidel throws a leg kick which misses Russo's front leg but catches the back leg as Russo tries to avoid it.
Russo throws a lazy uppercut
and Lidel counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Russo drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.
Russo has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Lidel finds it's way round the side to connect with Russo's head.
Lidel is using his height advantage well here, landing a good percentage of his punches.
Russo rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Lidel counters with a nice low kick that buckles Russo's knee momentarily.
Lidel tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Russo was well out of range. Poor timing from Lidel.
Nice straight punches there by Russo. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Russo.

and Russo counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.

and Lidel counters with a flying knee. Nice.
Russo misses with a leg kick
enabling Lidel to counter with a crisp jab.
Lidel connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.
Nice sprawl there from Lidel as Russo shoots in.
Tota Lidel has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jimmy Russo.

Russo fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Lidel, pushing him back against the cage.

Lidel digs a right hand into Russo's ribs. Those have got to be taking their toll on Russo's gas tank.

Lidel tries to stall but Russo uses the opportunity to gain a better position.

Russo is still on wobbly legs! Can Lidel finish him?
Lidel misses with some punches.
Lidel misses with the head strike.
Some stalling of biblical proportions here from Lidel.
Lidel swings wildly with an uppercut but Russo uses good head movement to avoid it.
Russo seems to have recovered his senses.
Lidel is pressed up against the cage. Russo has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Lidel down to the mat. Lidel avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Russo closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Russo wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Lidel, who protects the arm well.

Russo goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Lidel rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Russo's guard! Nice work there by Lidel!
Lidel won't allow Russo to sweep him here.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Russo wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.
Lidel trying to control the position from guard on top but Russo is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Russo has managed to work for a loose triangle. I think Lidel should be able to defend this one pretty easily though. Oh, Russo has tightened it up now! Lidel should have reacted faster there - he's in big trouble and yes, he's tapped out! This one is all over!
