PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Devon Bairstow (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tim Fraser (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Bairstow has a slight injury, which hopefully won't affect the fight too much. Tim Fraser told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 10 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Devon Bairstow!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 10 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Tim Fraser!
The judges for this bout are Reed Andrews, Russell Pearce and Bruno Lombardi.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bairstow misses with a left hand
and Fraser counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.

Fraser rushes Bairstow and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Bairstow can't break the clinch.
A short body shot lands from Fraser as the two fighters clinch.
Fraser stalling in the clinch.

Bairstow escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Bairstow has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Bairstow there as he acknowledges the shot.

and Fraser counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.

and Fraser counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Fraser passes Bairstow's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
Bairstow is breathing heavily.

Fraser looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Fraser stalling.

Fraser frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Fraser stands up from mount. Strange move.
Fraser connects with a body shot that sends Bairstow's belly button to the back.

Fraser shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Bairstow's guard.

Fraser is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Fraser stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Bairstow swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Tim Fraser has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet.
Fraser comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.

Fraser gets a takedown into half guard.
Bairstow knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Fraser on the ground.

Fraser decides to stand up.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

and Fraser counters with a lovely shot to the body.
Bairstow takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.

Fraser wants to control from the top but Bairstow keeps moving.

Fraser gets to his feet. Bairstow looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

Fraser feints and as Bairstow raises his hands in defense, Fraser changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

Fraser stands and steps away. Bairstow gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Bairstow has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.
Bairstow looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.
Fraser keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Bairstow's efforts to push away.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Tim Fraser hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!

Tim Fraser comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Fraser has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
