PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Simon Adebisi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tony Brimingham (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Adebisi comes into the arena with Gregorius - NMKY blaring out of the sound system. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Tony Brimingham!
The judges for this bout are Anni Minnemäki, Arvi Lind and Matti Vanhoillinen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Brimingham fails with an attempt to clinch.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Brimingham.
No joy there for Brimingham, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Brimingham looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Adebisi is fending him off so far but Brimingham persists. Nope, Adebisi circles away and we're back to standing.

Adebisi decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Adebisi is keen to just control but Brimingham is a slippery customer.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Brimingham stands up from the dominant position. He obviously fancies his chances standing.
Adebisi thows a body shot but no joy.
Adebisi moves in looking to clinch but Brimingham pushes him off.

Brimingham closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

Adebisi escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Brimingham gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Brimingham must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Brimingham avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Brimingham tries to stand but Adebisi is controlling from the bottom.

Brimingham stands up over Adebisi, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.

Brimingham decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Adebisi, up you get!
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Adebisi is trying to control the action in half guard but Brimingham is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Brimingham won't allow Adebisi to pass to mount.
Brimingham has hold of Adebisi's hands but Adebisi slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
Adebisi wants to pass the guard but Brimingham is defending well.
Adebisi is tying to control. Brimingham wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
Adebisi looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
Adebisi passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Brimingham!

Adebisi jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Brimingham manages to avoid the submission attempt.
Brimingham is trying to improve his position.

Adebisi decides to stand back up.

Adebisi darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.

Brimingham is trying to stand.
Brimingham is staying active underneath Adebisi, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Brimingham tries to roll over but Adebisi keeps him under control.
Adebisi is tying to control. Brimingham wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
Brimingham looks like he's trying to stand up.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Adebisi in particular looking to stall.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Adebisi has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Brimingham is keen to just control but Adebisi is a slippery customer.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Tony Brimingham will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Adebisi is trying to work for a kimura. He's got his hands clasped together - this could be trouble! No, Brimingham has managed to free his arm - good work.
Adebisi seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Brimingham does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Brimingham is trying to get back to full guard.

Brimingham kicks off Adebisi and gets to his feet.
Brimingham will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Brimingham misses with a takedown

and Adebisi counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
Brimingham wants to get back to his feet.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Brimingham is looking to get back to full guard here but Adebisi has managed to pass to side control instead.

Adebisi working for the rear naked choke here. He's got one arm under but Brimingham is defending well. A couple of punches soften him up though and Adebisi has tightened the hold! This one could be all over! It is! Brimingham taps out!
