Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Carlos Everlez!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Donnie Nietes!
The judges for this bout are Damien Edna, Winston Howard and Steve Erwin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Everlez is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Everlez bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Nietes throws a lazy uppercut

and Everlez counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Everlez.

Everlez lands a takedown into guard.
Nietes can't keep his opponent in guard - Everlez advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Everlez has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.

Everlez get's back to his feet.
Everlez shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Everlez shoots in but Nietes avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Nietes looks to land a left hand but Everlez moved out of range nicely.
Donnie Nietes seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Nietes looks to throw the jab but Everlez is out of range.

Everlez feints and as Nietes raises his hands in defense, Everlez changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

Everlez stands up and waves to Nietes to follow him.
A big right from Nietes misses.
Nietes slaps away a takedown attempt from Everlez, before circling back to the center of the mat.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Carlos Everlez. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Nietes throws a lazy uppercut

so Everlez counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Everlez pushing down on Nietes's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work.
Everlez uses his free foot to push down on Nietes's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Nietes.
Everlez content just to control the position here.

Everlez working for a submission here. He's tucked his head under his opponent's arm, looking for an arm triangle. He's hopped off into side control, looking to tighten the submission... is it going to work? He's given up a good position looking for it. Nietes looks OK. Oh, I spoke too soon, he's out! That must have been tighter than I thought! Excellent work there by Everlez! Submission of the night perhaps?
