The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Kobra throws a leg kick which misses Alberto's front leg but catches the back leg as Alberto tries to avoid it. Alberto throws a poor cross that misses
and Kobra counters with a body kick that brings a smile to the face of both fighters. Kobra throws a nice inside leg kick. Alberto lands with a good body shot. Alberto scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one. Alberto throws a predictable looking body shot
and Kobra counters with a lovely straight right hand! Alberto closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Alberto lands in his opponent's guard. Kobra preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.

Kobra utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. That's four minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Alberto lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard. Alberto keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Kobra's head. Alberto is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Alberto wants to control from the top but Kobra keeps moving. Kobra throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.

Alberto with a hook. Kobra keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Alberto. Alberto's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Kobra connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Alberto scrambles back to his feet. Kobra fails with an attempt to clinch.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Alberto is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Kobra. Kobra misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

That's one minute gone in the round. Alberto is trying to maintain a safe position but Kobra gets an underhook and turns Alberto into the cage. Kobra putting his Muay Thai to good use. He has Alberto in a tight clinch and is doing some damage with knees to the body. Alberto blocks an elbow strike. Alberto has clasped his hands together around Kobra's back... aaand, he's got a takedown into side control. Nicely done. Kobra tries to improve position but can't. That's two minutes gone in the round. Alberto works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Kobra is trying to get back to half guard. Alberto landing with strikes to the head and body from side control. Kobra is not in a great position here, taking some shots. Kobra is working to avoid the ground and pound but Alberto connects with a decent elbow. Alberto throws an elbow but Kobra slips to the side and avoids it well. Alberto trying to control the action but Kobra is working from the bottom. Alberto taking a break here but Kobra is having none of it and regains half guard. Kobra tries to get to full guard but Alberto has control of the leg.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Alberto slips a nice elbow through Kobra's hands, connecting with Kobra's forehead. Alberto passes the guard and advances to mount! Alberto postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Kobra looks a forlorn figure.

Alberto throws out a token jab with nothing on it. Alberto takes the fight into the clinch. Alberto stalling in the clinch but Kobra improves position. Alberto avoids a wild elbow strike from Kobra. Kobra working Alberto over with knees to the body. Kobra is fighting off a takedown attempt but Alberto is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Kobra to the mat. Kobra regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat. Alberto advances to half guard. Kobra is trying to get back to full guard. Alberto drops an elbow to the side of Kobra's head.
That's one minute gone in the round. Kobra moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard. Kobra preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. Kobra throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
Alberto seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Alberto wants to pass the guard but Kobra is keeping the position. Alberto working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Kobra's head. Alberto throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. Kobra preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. Jose Alberto overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Alberto trying to control but Kobra is working from the bottom.

Alberto cracks Kobra with a solid left hand. Alberto trying to control but Kobra is working from the bottom. King Kobra has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here! Alberto is in close to Kobra's body, working some short punches and elbows. Alberto is looking to work some ground and pound but Kobra has wrist control. Alberto distracts Kobra with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm. Kobra keeping moving, preventing Alberto from controlling successfully.
And that's the end of the fight! Jose Alberto showed his dominance in that final round. Well I reckon that's a shut out for Alberto, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
