Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Damtea Sailo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Gary Van Der Berg (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Damtea Sailo!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Gary Van Der Berg!
The judges for this bout are Wagner Zegers, Saam Ante and Paulsen Ambrosius.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sailo fails to land the takedown.
Van Der Berg tries to grapple but his opponent circles

so Sailo counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Van Der Berg looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Sailo puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.
Van Der Berg wants to control but Sailo is keeping busy.
Sailo prevents Van Der Berg from standing back up.
Sailo trying to control the action but Van Der Berg is working from the bottom.
Van Der Berg is doing well to control the position and prevent Sailo from advancing to side control.
Van Der Berg is trying to stand up here but Sailo is controlling him well.
Sailo is taking a breather. Van Der Berg says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

We're going to have a standup here because Damtea Sailo wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.

A head kick lands from Van Der Berg that sends Sailo to the canvas. Sailo tries to scramble back to his feet but Van Der Berg brings him back down into side control.


It looks like Damtea Sailo has been cut.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Sailo is not content to let Van Der Berg control the position.
Van Der Berg really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Sailo. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Van Der Berg wants to stand but Sailo is controlling his arm.
Sailo is trying to control Van Der Berg's posture but Van Der Berg avoids it.
Sailo manages to get back to half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Van Der Berg content to control rather than advance.
Sailo is looking for a sweep. Van Der Berg is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Van Der Berg tries to stand but his hand is stuck under Sailo.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Sailo is looking to improve his position.
It looks like Van Der Berg is going to stand back up.
Van Der Berg looks gassed!

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Gary Van Der Berg.
Van Der Berg throws a head kick that Sailo semi-blocks.
Gary Van Der Berg is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Sailo shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.
Sailo controlling the pace for now.
Van Der Berg tries to lock up and control but Sailo gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Sailo takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Sailo jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Van Der Berg manages to avoid the submission attempt.
Van Der Berg is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Sailo is controlling him well.
Van Der Berg is not content to let Sailo control the position.

Sailo is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Van Der Berg is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Sailo lands a knee to the body and a forearm to the face.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Sailo thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Van Der Berg wants to get back to his feet.
Van Der Berg tries to control but Sailo manages to take his back.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Sailo has his hand under the chin of his opponent looking for the choke. He's nearly got it! This one could be all over! But no, Van Der Berg has freed his hand and lives to survive another… well, another couple of seconds at least!

Van Der Berg tries to clinch but Sailo moves away
enabling Sailo to counter with a crisp jab.
Van Der Berg goes for a spinning back kick but it misses.
Van Der Berg throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Gary Van Der Berg seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Sailo changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Van Der Berg looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Sailo is looking to take a break and control but Van Der Berg is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Van Der Berg tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Sailo wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

You can see the frustration on Van Der Berg's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

Sailo gets in close and instigates a clinch.
The referee is keeping an eye on Van Der Berg - much more stalling and he will separate the fighters.
Sailo blocks an elbow strike.
Van Der Berg has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.
Sailo wants a takedown.
Van Der Berg lands a good knee to the midsection. Sailo won't want to take too many of those.

Sailo goes for a takedown attempt but Van Der Berg pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
