1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Al Varun! The judges for this bout are Saam Ante, Patrick Alders and Paul Aken.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Varun darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard. Pantrial keeping control of the position. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Varun wants to take a breather but Pantrial is having none of it. Pantrial regains full guard. Nicely done. Varun wants to get up but he can't break Pantrial's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
That's one minute gone in the round. Varun trying to control but Pantrial is working from the bottom.
Al Varun has forced the referee to step in and restart the fight on the feet. Pantrial decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard. Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Pantrial in particular looking to stall. Varun is trying to stand up here but Pantrial is controlling him well. Varun is defending against the submission attempts here by Pantrial.
Varun wants to get back to his feet.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Varun preventing any damage for now, controlling his opponent's head. Pantrial is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there. Pantrial seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense. Pantrial in half guard on the top.
