Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Petri Pikkarainen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jose Sanchez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Sanchez has chosen PELIMUSA as his entrance music. The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
8 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Petri Pikkarainen! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Jose Sanchez! The judges for this bout are Marco Blurström, Anni Minnemäki and Johanna Lukiainen.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Pikkarainen fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Sanchez sprawls well initially but Pikkarainen persists and gets the takedown into half guard. Pikkarainen is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Sanchez sees it coming and defends easily. Pikkarainen is trying to control the action in half guard but Sanchez is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard. Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Pikkarainen in particular looking to stall. Pikkarainen is pressing down on Sanchez's thigh, looking to free his foot. Sanchez is holding on for now. Sanchez wants to improve his position but Pikkarainen is controlling well.
That's one minute gone in the round.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Petri Pikkarainen. Pikkarainen slips a jab from Sanchez. Sanchez misses with a lunging right hand
and Pikkarainen counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Pikkarainen. Sanchez tries to land a sweep but no joy. Pikkarainen trying to control the position from guard on top but Sanchez is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Pikkarainen wants to get up but he can't break Sanchez's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here. Sanchez is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Pikkarainen is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there. Pikkarainen trying to control but Sanchez is working from the bottom. Pikkarainen works a leg free and moves into half guard. Pikkarainen uses his free foot to push down on Sanchez's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Sanchez. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Pikkarainen controlling from mount.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Pikkarainen looking for a guillotine from mount but Sanchez is having none of it. Pikkarainen content just to control the position here. Pikkarainen can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Sanchez is looking to escape.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Sanchez is in all sorts of trouble here.
Pikkarainen goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Sanchez turns into him and now he's in Pikkarainen's guard.
Pikkarainen looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Sanchez has picked Pikkarainen up and slammed him! Pikkarainen can't keep hold of the triangle and Sanchez manages to pass to side control! And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Petri Pikkarainen dominated that round. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.
Sanchez misses with a kick to the body.
Pikkarainen shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Sanchez as he avoids it easily. Sanchez lands the left hand. Sanchez swings away with a leg kick that misses. Pikkarainen misses with a takedown and Sanchez counters with a head kick. That will keep Pikkarainen thinking before he tries any more sloppy attacks! Petri Pikkarainen is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Pikkarainen gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there. Sanchez displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Pikkarainen. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Petri Pikkarainen. That's going to take a lot out of him.
That's one minute gone in the round. Sanchez listening to his corner there, landing a nice uppercut. Pikkarainen doesn't succeed with the takedown and Sanchez counters with a leg kick that reverborates around the arena. Pikkarainen has his takedown stuffed and Sanchez counters with a head kick that drops Pikkarainen to the mat! Pikkarainen scrambles across the canvas and gets back to his feet, still wobbly!
Pikkarainen is rocked! Pikkarainen leaves his chin hanging out and Sanchez seizes the opportunity with an uppercut! Pikkarainen crumbles to the floor in a heap! The referee steps in and tends to the downed fighter! What a knockout!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:02 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Jose Sanchez!
