PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Pekka Peitsi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Alex Bortman (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Peitsi comes to the cage accompanied by Seitsemän kertaa seitsemän. Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Pekka Peitsi!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Alex Bortman!
The judges for this bout are Ben Zyskovitsi, Tarja Halkonen and Johanna Lukiainen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Peitsi misses with a few strikes there.

Peitsi shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Bortman's guard.

Peitsi postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Bortman is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Peitsi, into his guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Peitsi is trying to control the position but Bortman postures up.

Peitsi is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Peitsi looking for subs off his back but Bortman has passed one foot through into half guard.
Peitsi regains full guard. Nicely done.

Peitsi is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Bortman defends well.

Bortman got a little sloppy there for a moment and Peitsi has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Bortman has managed to get both his arms back between Peitsi's legs - danger averted.
Peitsi is trying to keep Bortman in close.
Bortman is looking to stand up but Peitsi won't let him.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Peitsi is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Bortman is aware though and is defending well.

Peitsi kicks Bortman off and gets to his feet.

Peitsi has picked Bortman up - he's going for a ride! Peitsi dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard.

Peitsi seems to be working for a kimura but Bortman defends the submission attempt.

Peitsi looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Peitsi is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Bortman is just riding it out for now. Peitsi eventually gives up the hold.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Bortman kicks off Peitsi and gets to his feet.
Peitsi takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.

Peitsi closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Peitsi lands in his opponent's guard.
Peitsi pushes down on Bortman's leg and manages to get into half guard.
Peitsi thows a huge punch but Bortman dodges it nicely.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Pekka Peitsi dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Bortman misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Bortman throws a body punch but Peitsi moves out of range.
Bortman scores with a three punch combo!
Peitsi ducks under a wild hook from Bortman.
Peitsi fails with the takedown.

Peitsi gets a clinch.
Peitsi keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Bortman's efforts to push away.

Peitsi breaks the clinch.
Bortman avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Alex Bortman seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Bortman jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Pekka Peitsi is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Peitsi shoots in for a takedown but Bortman shows good takedown defense.
Bortman throws a right hand that Peitsi ducks under and follows up with a left that Peitsi also avoids with ease.
Bortman lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.


It looks like Pekka Peitsi has been cut.

Bortman swings away with a body shot that misses

and Peitsi counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Peitsi.
Bortman wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.

Peitsi breaks from the clinch.

Peitsi clinches up against the cage.
Bortman is trying to push Peitsi away but Peitsi has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.
Bortman jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Peitsi walks away with a smile on his face. Bortman gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Peitsi misses with an uppercut. Bortman saw that one coming.
Bortman throws a quick head kick that skims the top of Peitsi's head.
Bortman throws a series of punches but Peitsi avoids them all with ease.
Bortman stuffs the takedown attempt from Peitsi. Peitsi gets slowly back to his feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Pekka Peitsi. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Peitsi jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Bortman moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination.
Nice takedown defense from Bortman. No joy for Peitsi on that attempt.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Peitsi closes the distance and clinches up with Bortman, looking for a takedown. Peitsi pushes Bortman against the cage but Bortman circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Bortman moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Peitsi finds himself stumbling back on wobbly legs after being clipped by a right hand. He's up against the cage, ducking and weaving under Bortman's strikes but an uppercut finds it's way through and Peitsi falls! - He's completely out of it and the ref jumps in to save him!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:09 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Alex Bortman!
