PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Vitaliy Kleva (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Randy The Natural (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Vitaliy Kleva!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Randy The Natural!
The judges for this bout are Valeri Chadov, Viktor Lagutenko and Vladimir Khabensky.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
The Natural misses with a takedown
and The Natural takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.

Kleva decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
The Natural is looking to improve his position.

The Natural is defending against the submission attempts here by Kleva.
The Natural is looking to control Kleva's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can The Natural avoid being mounted?
The Natural is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Kleva is keen to just control but The Natural is a slippery customer.
Kleva perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.

Kleva decides to return to a standing position.

Kleva has The Natural up against the cage in a clinch.
Kleva keeps control of The Natural as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.
Kleva is pressed up against the cage. The Natural has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Kleva down to the mat. Kleva avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.

The Natural gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Kleva to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Kleva is in close to The Natural's body, working some short punches and elbows.

Kleva pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. The Natural is keeping the position for now.
The Natural managing to control the position.
Kleva wants to control from the top but The Natural keeps moving.
Kleva looking to pass the guard.
Kleva would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.
Kleva is breathing heavily.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now The Natural is on top in guard.
The Natural wants to control from the top but Kleva keeps moving.
The Natural is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Randy The Natural.

Kleva has The Natural up against the cage in a clinch.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Kleva has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed The Natural clear over his head and slammed him to the mat!
The Natural trying to control the position but Kleva manages to sink in the hooks.
A lull in the action here.
Kleva is hanging on to The Natural's back as he tries to escape.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Vitaliy Kleva dominated that round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


The Natural fails with a takedown attempt.
The Natural closes the distance but Kleva moves to the side

and Kleva counters by moving into the clinch.

Kleva manages to break the clinch.
The Natural tries to work over Kleva's front leg with a kick but Kleva checks it.
The Natural throws a head kick but Kleva moves out of range.

Kleva shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Oh and he's advanced to full mount straight away.
Kleva looking to control but The Natural is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
Kleva avoids the attempt from The Natural to control.
The Natural working to try and regain half guard.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Kleva thuds his fist into the canvas! Oooouch!
The Natural wants to hold on but Kleva pushes him away.
Kleva trying to control but The Natural is having none of it.
The Natural sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.
The Natural manages to get to full guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
The Natural is trying to keep Kleva in close.
The Natural tries to land a sweep but no joy.

The Natural had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Kleva defends it easily.
Kleva in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Kleva trying to control the position from guard on top but The Natural is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The Natural looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Kleva trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.
Kleva is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
The Natural not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
The Natural might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Kleva kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.
Kleva wants to control from the top but The Natural keeps moving.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Kleva trying to stand up but can't free himself from The Natural's guard.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Vitaliy Kleva wasn't doing enough on the ground.
The Natural gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily

and Kleva counters with a nice double leg into half guard.

Kleva seems to be looking for submissions.
Kleva wants to get back to his feet.
The Natural is pressing down on Kleva's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! This is the final round!



Kleva shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in The Natural's guard.
The Natural is trying to control the position from the bottom.
The Natural tries to land a sweep but no joy.
The Natural controls Kleva momentarily but Kleva frees himself.
Kleva trying to control but The Natural is working from the bottom.
The Natural keeping full guard, as Kleva tries to pass.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
The Natural pulls Kleva in close to his closed guard and prevents Kleva from doing any damage or advancing position.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Vitaliy Kleva wasn't doing enough on the ground.
The Natural looks to clinch

and Kleva counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.

Kleva is sneakily working for an arm triangle but The Natural sees it coming and defends easily.
The Natural is staying active underneath Kleva, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
The Natural is looking to improve his position.

The Natural has hold of Kleva's hands but Kleva slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
The Natural moves into full guard.
Kleva is stalling in the full guard.
Kleva throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as The Natural works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
The Natural is pulling down on Kleva's head. It's preventing any offense from Kleva, at least for the moment.
Vitaliy Kleva overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

The Natural is working an open guard so Kleva takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.

Kleva has The Natural up against the cage in a clinch.
Kleva tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and The Natural avoids it.
Kleva stops a takedown attempt from The Natural.

Kleva gets a trip takedown into half guard.
The Natural is trying to get back to full guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Kleva is looking to stall here but The Natural recovers full guard.
Kleva trying to control the position from guard on top but The Natural is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Well Kleva has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
