Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Jun Pio (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Iari Weiss Pascal (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pio decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Weiss Pascal throws a strike from the bottom that misses.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Pio seems to have lost interest with the ground game and is thinking about standing back up.
Weiss Pascal tries to roll over but Pio keeps him under control.
Pio wants to lay and pray for a moment but Weiss Pascal keeps working.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Pio tries to stand but his hand is stuck under Weiss Pascal.

Pio seems to be working for a kimura but Weiss Pascal defends the submission attempt.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Weiss Pascal can do anything to dispel that myth.

Weiss Pascal wants to control but Pio is keeping busy and won't allow it.

Pio is keen to just control but Weiss Pascal is a slippery customer.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Pio feints and as Weiss Pascal raises his hands in defense, Pio changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Weiss Pascal manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Pio is breathing heavily.
Weiss Pascal prevents Pio from getting the reversal.
The referee warns Pio that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
That's three minutes gone in the round.
Weiss Pascal postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Pio looks a forlorn figure.
It looks like Jun Pio has been cut.
Weiss Pascal looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead.
Weiss Pascal is landing with some decent strikes but Pio is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.

The referee calls the doctor in to look at Jun Pio's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!
