Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Carl Romero! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Kyrstyof Soshykski! The judges for this bout are Bruno Hogan, John Mangel and Skip Squint.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Romero throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Soshykski counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head. Romero lands with a shot to the body. Soshykski closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Romero quickly recovers to half guard. Romero is trying to control but can't.
Romero is in a bad position, trying to hold on for dear life but he is really struggling to maintain any sort of control. Soshykski missing with some ground and pound from the half guard. Romero trying to control but Soshykski postures up.
Soshykski looks gassed! Romero wants to control but Soshykski passes into side.
Romero struggling a bit here. Soshykski really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Romero. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Romero is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Soshykski is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him. Romero tries to bench press Soshykski off him but Soshykski keeps the position.
That's one minute gone in the round. Romero wants to control but Soshykski postures up. Soshykski wants to control but Romero is keeping him busy. You can see the frustration on Romero's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. Romero is looking for a sweep. Romero manages to get back to half guard. Romero wants to control but Soshykski is keeping busy.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground. Romero swinging wildly here.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. An inside leg kick from Soshykski misses. Romero with a hook. Romero lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Romero tries to sprawl but Soshykski drives through with a takedown into half guard. Romero wants to control but Soshykski is keeping busy and won't allow it. Romero looking for submissions off his back. Romero has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Soshykski is working away from the top position though. The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
That's three minutes gone in the round. We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace. Romero actively working from the bottom here. Romero trying to hold on to Soshykski's head to control him but Soshykski postures up.
Soshykski wants to stand up but Romero has a hold of him and won't allow it. Romero looking to work for a kimura from the bottom. Romero looking for submissions off his back. Soshykski is thwarting Romero's attempts to control the position.
That's four minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Romero is not content to let Soshykski control the position. Romero trying to control here.
Soshykski thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Romero's head. Romero trying to control here.
Romero is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Romero is looking to control Soshykski's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Romero avoid being mounted? Romero looking for submissions from an awkward position here. Romero wants to control but Soshykski is keeping busy.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
A close round but Kyrstyof Soshykski will probably get the nod. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.
Soshykski walks into a jab. Soshykski connects with an inside leg kick. Romero gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard. Soshykski stands up from Romero's guard - Soshykski perhaps looking for a knockout. Romero misses with a jab, cross combination.
Carl Romero is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Soshykski shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Romero as he avoids it easily. Romero pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Soshykski back to the cage. Romero follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver. Soshykski changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Romero tries to avoid it but Soshykski manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Romero to the ground. Romero escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Romero feints a jab promting Soshykski to slip. Romero then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Soshykski slips again and ducks right into an uppercut. Soshykski takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch. Romero scores with a hook to the body. Soshykski takes a step back and tries to catch his breath. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Romero connects with a body shot. Romero lands a body shot.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Soshykski takes one on the chin but seems OK.
That's one minute gone in the round. Romero closes the distance and lands a one-two. Romero feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Soshykskis jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist! Romero lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Soshykski backs up against the cage.

Decent striking displayed by Romero there. Romero wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection. Danga de danga de dang - Romero scores with a four punch combination! Romero lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook. Romero scores with a jab. Soshykski acknowledges it with a nod of the head. Soshykski has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Romero finds it's way round the side to connect with Soshykski's head. Romero tries to sprawl but Soshykski drives through with a takedown into half guard. Romero is trying to control but can't.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Soshykski missing with the ground and pound from half guard. Romero is trying to maintain the position but Soshykski is very close to passing his half guard. The fighters are battling for position here. Romero manages to regain full guard. Nice work.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Romero is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Romero working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Soshykski. Soshykski is trying to tuck his arms in to keep them safe but Romero has managed to isolate one of them and has got a loose triangle. Soshykski is looking to defend but Romero has done well to lock his legs together - this could be big trouble for Soshykski! Romero pulls down on the head and a little smile comes across his face - he knows he's got it. Yep, Soshykski taps out and this one is all over!
