Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, carlos Martins!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Kooistra De Ridder!
The judges for this bout are Chris Downing, Cecil Peabody and Frank Dennis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
De Ridder connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head.
Kooistra De Ridder seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
De Ridder doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Martins counters with a straight right hand.
De Ridder scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent.
De Ridder throws a right and a left that both miss.
De Ridder cracks Martins with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.
Martins is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.
De Ridder tries for a takedown but Martins sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.

and Martins connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
carlos Martins has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Kooistra De Ridder.

and Martins counters with a lovely straight right hand!
De Ridder wants to clinch but Martins slips to the side
letting Martins counter with a right hand.

De Ridder gets caught flat footed, as Martins shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Martins has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

De Ridder is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

De Ridder pushes Martins off and scrambles back to his feet.

De Ridder shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.

De Ridder looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
De Ridder seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.

Martins keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
Martins tries to kick De Ridder off but De Ridder keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
De Ridder not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
De Ridder is looking for the mount but instead finds himself back in full guard.

De Ridder is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
De Ridder trying to control the position from guard on top but Martins is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Martins utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.

De Ridder stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Martins swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Martins could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
De Ridder trying to control but Martins is working from the bottom.
De Ridder wants to get up but he can't break Martins's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

De Ridder decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Martins, up you get!

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.



De Ridder darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Martins is looking for a sweep. De Ridder is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
De Ridder wants to pass the guard but Martins is defending well.
Martins is not content to let De Ridder control the position.
De Ridder moves nicely into side control.

De Ridder wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Martins, who protects the arm well.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

De Ridder has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

De Ridder is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Martins has escaped the position, nice work there.
De Ridder is looking to take a break and control but Martins is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

De Ridder is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Martins knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Martins pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
De Ridder has Martins pulled in close to control his posture.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Martins trying to control but De Ridder is working from the bottom.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Martins is in trouble now - De Ridder has advanced to mount!
De Ridder trying to control but Martins is having none of it.

Kooistra De Ridder showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

De Ridder feints and as Martins raises his hands in defense, De Ridder changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
De Ridder sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Martins's guard.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Martins wants to improve his position but De Ridder is controlling well.
Martins on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Martins tries to get out of the position.
De Ridder is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.
De Ridder passes to full mount!

De Ridder goes for an armbar but Martins turns quickly into his guard - lovely anticipation from Martins.
De Ridder has control of Martins's left arm, preventing Martins from doing any damage.

Martins throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as De Ridder works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Martins throws a strike but De Ridder rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
Martins utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
De Ridder is looking to stand up but Martins won't let him.
De Ridder trying to control the position from guard on top but Martins is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
De Ridder postures up and scores with a shot to the body and a follow up elbow to the head.
Martins not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Kooistra De Ridder is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
De Ridder pushing down on Martins's thigh, trying to pass to half guard. He's managed it... Nice work.

Well De Ridder has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
