Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Nick Diaz (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jim Slicks (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Nick Diaz! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Jim Slicks! The judges for this bout are Alec Ball, Gregory Folan and Robert Douchet.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Slicks darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard. Slicks throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage. Slicks really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Diaz. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Diaz manages to get to full guard.
Slicks working in close now, lands a nice elbow to the side of Diaz's head. Slicks pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Diaz is keeping the position for now. Diaz scrambles and gets back to his feet.
Slicks bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control. Slicks working the body and head with strikes. Diaz is pushing Slicks's head away, looking to escape. Slicks manages to hold on to the position though. Both fighters really going for it on the ground here! Slicks working the ground and pound. You can see the frustration on Diaz's face, being in this tough position on the bottom. Slicks trying to control the action but Diaz is working from the bottom.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now. Diaz wants to sweep here but Slicks controlling him for the moment. Slicks is looking to take a break and control but Diaz is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Diaz takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better. Diaz wants to get back to his feet but Slicks drags him back down. Slicks lands a knee to the body and a forearm to the face. Diaz is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Slicks asserts his dominance and retains side control. Diaz is looking to regain half guard here but Slicks keeps moving and retains side control. The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end. Slicks landing with strikes to the head and body from side control. Slicks is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Diaz's shoulder. That is not cool. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Diaz's corner calls for a 1,2 combination and Diaz duly obliges. A solid leg kick lands there for Slicks.
Slicks shoots for a takedown but Diaz saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily. Slicks shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Slicks showed some decent athleticism there. Diaz tries to roll over but Slicks keeps him under control. Still in half guard, Slicks seems content to control. Slicks is looking to take a break and control but Diaz is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Diaz tries to kick Slicks off but Slicks keeps his base steady and stays in half guard. Diaz wants to control but Slicks is keeping busy.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up. Diaz swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Slicks counters with a takedown into side control. Diaz is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Slicks is controlling him well.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Jim Slicks. Some wild striking there from Diaz.

Diaz lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
