The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Nilsson shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Smith is trying to defend but Nilsson finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Smith is trying to stand up here but Nilsson is controlling him well.
Nilsson prevents Smith from improving his position.
Smith trying to hold on to Nilsson's head to control him but Nilsson postures up.
Smith won't allow Nilsson to pass to mount.
Smith is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Nilsson is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Nilsson is looking to pass Smith's guard but actually Smith recovers to full guard.

Smith is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Nilsson tries to free his leg and advance position but Smith is retaining full guard.
Smith throws some sloppy strikes off his back.
Smith is looking to stand up but Nilsson isn't so interested in that idea.
Nilsson makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.
Smith seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.
Nilsson stands and throws Smith's legs to the side, diving into side control.
Smith tries to buck Nilsson off but Nilsson is having none of it.

Smith stops Nilsson from passing to mount.
Smith is pushing Nilsson's head away, looking to escape. Nilsson manages to hold on to the position though.

Nilsson has an Americana. Smith didn't react quickly enough there and he's in big trouble now! He tries to squirm out but is forced to tap! Nilsson is delighted and gyrates in front of the ring girls. They seem to like the attention - it'll be interesting to see if Nilsson hooks up with any of them at the after show party.
