Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Boris Bowler! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Zane Newton! The judges for this bout are James Ackerman, James Atkins and Steven Brown.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Bowler throws a hook to the side of Newton's head but Newton sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully. Bowler plants his feet and lands a nice head kick! Bowler misses with a wild body shot. Newton dodges the punch combination from Bowler.
Bowler wants to clinch up but Newton keeps it at a distance. Nice defenses there by Newton. Newton gets the takedown into side control. Newton takes a little break here. Bowler wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well. Let's hope that Newton has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight. Newton tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though. Newton thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
That's one minute gone in the round. Newton controlling from side mount. Newton's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
That's two minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Bowler is breathing heavily. Bowler pushes Newton away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Newton gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control. Bowler tries to get back to half guard but can't. Newton tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though. Newton taking a breather here.

Despite being in the dominant position, Zane Newton just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Newton feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. Bowler being controlled here, momentarily. Newton postures up and lands a big shot to Bowler's brow. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Newton sitting in guard here, content to control.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Newton wants to pass the guard but Bowler is keeping the position. Newton is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there. Bowler is trying to control the position but Newton postures up. Bowler can't keep his opponent in guard - Newton advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount. Newton content to sit in half guard and control for a moment. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Zane Newton dominated that round. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.
Newton gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here. Newton goes for a takedown in the clinch but Bowler prevents it.

Newton is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though. Newton is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Bowler pulls him back up using the underhooks. Boris Bowler has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Zane Newton. Bowler breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Bowler misses with a body kick. Bowler stuffs the takedown attempt from Newton. Newton gets slowly back to his feet. Bowler throws a head kick but Newton moves out of range.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Newton checks a leg kick. Newton feints and then dives in with a takedown. Bowler is looking to stand up but Newton isn't so interested in that idea. Bowler is looking to stand back up... there's a bit of a scramble and Newton dives into side control.
That's one minute gone in the round. Bowler is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Newton asserts his dominance and retains side control. Newton controlling the position from side mount. Bowler wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done!
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Newton passes to full mount! That's big trouble for Bowler! Newton content just to control the position here. Newton fails to move to back control. Newton controlling the position easily from mount. Bowler wants to control but Newton is having none of it.
That's three minutes gone in the round. You get the feeling that Bowler really doesn't like being in this position too much.
Newton lands with some strikes. Bowler is trying to escape the mount.
A nice elbow there by Newton. The referee warns Bowler that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
Newton is dominating on the ground here - he's now on his opponent's back, looking to sink in the hooks. Bowler is in real trouble.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Bowler holding both Newton 's hands and preventing any damage. Newton controlling from the back. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Bowler trying to control the hands but Newton breaks the grip. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Newton is working really hard to secure the rear naked choke. Bowler defends successfully for a significant amount of time. Both fighters are looking very determined. Newton controlling the position well here. Bowler rolled but Newton kept the hooks locked in and stayed in the dominant position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Zane Newton showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!

Bowler is looking to get back to is feet but Newton passes into side control.

Bowler knows the correct defense though, so he's OK. Newton just content to control the position. Bowler stops Newton from passing to mount. Newton moving around in side mount but really he's just happy to control for now.

Newton tries for a kimura but Bowler is defending well. Newton in side control, working for a kimura. He's got hold of an arm and he's torquing it... Bowler is tapping! That's the end of the fight!
