PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Rob Smalling (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Neil Tog (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Neil Tog was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, Rob Smalling!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, Neil Tog!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Bishop, William Gold and Donald Grub.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Tog scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.

Smalling tries to escape but Tog is in control.
The strikes coming from Tog are missing the target in this wave of attacks.

Smalling misses with a double jab

and Tog counters with a shoot takedown. Smalling fights it but they end up in guard.
Tog wants to control from the top but Smalling keeps moving.
Tog passes Smalling's left leg - he's now in half guard.

Smalling makes some distance and scrambles quickly back to his feet. Nice work!

Tog shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Tog was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

We're hearing some news coming in from back stage. It's official - Tog has eaten all the pies!
Tog can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Smalling is looking to escape.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Tog is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Smalling can't stay in a position like this for much longer.
Smalling squirming around on the bottom, looking to escape.
Tog is looking to work his way around to Smalling's back. He needs to be careful though, as he's in danger of losing this dominant position.

Smalling works Tog's body with a nice hook.
Smalling dips to his left and cracks Tog with an uppercut!
Rob Smalling seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Tog takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.
Smalling throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Tog.

Tog takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.

Tog moves in looking to clinch but Smalling pushes him off.
Smalling is looking to wear down Tog with body shots, infact he's throwing more body shots than head shots at the moment.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Smalling enables Tog to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Smalling manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Smalling wants to stand and escape but Tog is having none of it.

Smalling is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched.

A frustrated look appears on Smalling's face as he tries to break the clinch.
Tog keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Smalling's efforts to push away.
Smalling wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Tog has him pressed against the cage.

Smalling is trying to force a seperation but Tog has the dominant position.

Tog keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Smalling's efforts to push away.

Smalling has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.

Tog pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Smalling lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Tog backs up against the cage.

The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Neil Tog hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.

Smalling bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of Tog's head.
Smalling throws a series of punches but Tog avoids them all with ease.

Tog drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
Smalling pushes Tog away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Tog gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.

Tog is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.

Tog cracks Smalling with a big right hand but Smalling just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Tog is looking to take a break and control but Smalling is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Smalling is pushing Tog's head away, looking to escape. Tog manages to hold on to the position though.

Smalling is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Tog has just dragged him back down to the mat.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

The ground and pound from Tog seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent.
Smalling pushes Tog away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Tog gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.

I think Tog has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
