Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Max Gilles (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Justin Travis (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Justin Travis has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Max Gilles!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Justin Travis!
The judges for this bout are Franklyn Lucas, Jorge Garcia and John Kavanagh.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Travis lands a nice hook to Gilles's body. Gilles takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.

Gilles shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
Gilles stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Travis swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Travis is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Gilles is controlling him.
Gilles thows a big elbow that misses.

Gilles postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Travis is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Gilles, into his guard.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Gilles has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Travis can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Travis engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.
Travis trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Travis really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Gilles. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Travis wants to get up but he can't break Gilles's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
Travis must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Gilles is looking for a triangle but Travis pushes his legs off easily.
Gilles can't keep his opponent in guard - Travis advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Gilles looking to work for a kimura from the bottom.
Travis trying to control the action but Gilles is working from the bottom.
Gilles tries to get to full guard but Travis has control of the leg.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Gilles wants to improve his position but Travis is controlling well.
Travis wants to pass to mount but Gilles is defending the position.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Gilles trying to control from the bottom.
Gilles wants to get back to his feet.
Gilles wants to get back to full guard but Travis has passed into side control.
Gilles regains half guard.
Travis is trying to control the action in half guard but Gilles is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Justin Travis dominated that round.
That's time! Gilles's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

and Travis counters with a straight right hand.


It looks like Max Gilles has been cut.
Travis misses with an uppercut.
Gilles misses with a takedown attempt
and Travis counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Travis misses with an uppercut. Gilles saw that one coming.
Gilles swings widly with a right hand
and Travis counters with a nice body shot.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Gilles slips a jab from Travis.
Travis looks to land a right hand but Gilles moved out of range.
Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Travis sends Gilles crashing to the mat with a devastating uppercut! Travis is motioning to the referee to let Gilles up. He wants to try and finish this one on the feet!
Travis drops a shoulder and throws a monster hook that connects perfectly to the side of Gilles's head, knocking him out cold! Travis is extatic as he celebrates with his cornermen.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:14 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Justin Travis!
