Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Max Power (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Shigenori Iwasaki (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Power comes into the arena with Fabolous, 50cent, Mase - Breathe Remix blaring out of the sound system. Iwasaki has chosen Soul II Soul - Back to Life as his entrance music. Shigenori Iwasaki acknowledges the crowd's support as he enters the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
16 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Max Power! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
6 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Shigenori Iwasaki! The judges for this bout are Ren Mimura, Shirou Masuda and Kenichi Hosakawa.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Power shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. Jab, jab by Iwasaki - just one landing. Danga de danga de dang - Iwasaki scores with a four punch combination!
It looks like Max Power has been cut. Power throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Iwasaki stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly. Iwasaki tries to clinch up but Power circles away and keeps his distance. Power tries to clinch up but Iwasaki circles away and keeps his distance. Power moves out of range as Iwasaki strikes. Power wants to clinch. Power chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Iwasaki can pounce on him.
Shigenori Iwasaki seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Iwasaki tests Power's chin there with a solid looking shot. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Iwasaki ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent. Power is looking to score with low kicks. Iwasaki throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
That's one minute gone in the round. Iwasaki looks to land a left hand but Power moved out of range nicely. Iwasaki swings away with a leg kick that misses. Iwasaki doesn't manage to clinch there - Power circles away.
Iwasaki throws a leg kick and Power counters with a single leg into guard. Iwasaki didn't expect that. Iwasaki is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Power is controlling him. Iwasaki lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Power! Iwasaki takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Iwasaki tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position. Power tries to lock up and control but Iwasaki gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away. Iwasaki looking to control but Power is working nicely, looking to advance position himself. Iwasaki prevents Power from getting the reversal. Power is squirming around, avoiding Iwasaki's attempts to control the action.
That's five minutes gone in the round. Iwasaki sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment. Let's hope that Iwasaki has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight. Iwasaki tries to control but Power wriggling away.
OK we're going to have a standup here. Shigenori Iwasaki hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart. Iwasaki scores with a jab to the jaw.
That's six minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Iwasaki throws the left hand but Power avoids the punch easily. Iwasaki lands with a cross. A lazy body kick from Iwasaki and Power counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Iwasaki! Iwasaki tries to reverse the position but Power maintains control. Power avoids the attempt from Iwasaki to control. Power controlling from the full mount. Power's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

That's eight minutes gone in the round. Power throwing shots from mount but they're not landing. Iwasaki is looking to get to half guard. Power is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Iwasaki can't stay in a position like this for much longer.
Power can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Iwasaki is looking to escape. Power looking to control and managing it successfully.
That's nine minutes gone in the round. Power sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it! Iwasaki really wants to buck Power off and get back to his feet. Iwasaki working to try and regain half guard.
Power tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position. Power landing shots from mount. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Max Power will probably get the nod. The cut man is working on Max Power's cut. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!

We are yet to see a takedown attempt from Iwasaki in the fight. On paper you would think he is the more dominant ground fighter so let's see if these unusual tactics pay off. Power scores with a nice head shot. Power connects with a crisp jab. Power uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Iwasaki. Iwasaki does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.

Power stops Iwasaki from standing up. Power looking to control the position here, rather than advance.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
