Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Gil Hernandez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Boy Kalawit (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Gil Hernandez! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Boy Kalawit! The judges for this bout are Hugh Johnson, Summer Carpenter and Skip Squint.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Kalawit shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Hernandez counters with a straight right hand. Kalawit tries to keep at a distance but Hernandez has taken the fight into the clinch. Kalawit looking for a takedown. Kalawit tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Hernandez just stands there and leans against the cage. Gil Hernandez has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Boy Kalawit. Hernandez is looking to break free of the clinch but Kalawit has double underhooks. Hernandez lands with a short head shot on the inside. Hernandez pulls Kalawit into guard.
Hernandez pulls Kalawit in close to prevent any damage. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Hernandez is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Hernandez uses the cage to get back to his feet.
That's one minute gone in the round. Kalawit shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Hernandez manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage. Hernandez looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it. Hernandez is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Kalawit is aware though and is defending well. Kalawit slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard. Kalawit really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Hernandez. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Kalawit throws a strike but Hernandez rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Hernandez lands a couple of decent looking shots. Hernandez wants to control from the top but Kalawit keeps moving. Kalawit tries to land a sweep but no joy. Hernandez pushes down on Kalawit's leg and manages to get into half guard. Kalawit is trying to stand.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Kalawit looks gassed! Kalawit controlling the leg, holding on to half guard. Hernandez decides he's had enough of the ground and stands up. Hernandez tries to close the distance and clinch but Kalawit swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away. Hernandez tries to clinch there but Kalawit circles away.
Hernandez leaves Kalawit with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt. Hernandez shoots in and bounces Kalawit off the cage to secure the takedown into guard. Hernandez is in close to Kalawit's body, working some short punches and elbows.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Hernandez trying to control but Kalawit is working from the bottom. Hernandez is really struggling to control Kalawit but he's trying to hold on to the position.
Gil Hernandez has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet. Hernandez rushes Kalawit and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Gil Hernandez dominated that round. The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!
Hernandez lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Hernandez. Hernandez shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Kalawit pinned against the cage. Kalawit gets the underhooks and manages to circle away. Hernandez really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape. No luck with that takedown attempt from Hernandez. Hernandez shoots and misses and Kalawit decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Hernandez's guard. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Gil Hernandez. That's going to take a lot out of him. Kalawit wants to control from the top but Hernandez keeps moving. Hernandez will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions. Kalawit won't allow Hernandez to sweep him here. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here. Kalawit wants to control from the top but Hernandez keeps moving. Hernandez bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Kalawit's guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Hernandez preventing the sweep. Hernandez looking to pass the guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Kalawit trying to keep a closed guard but Hernandez is proving a slippery customer.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace. Kalawit throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land. Hernandez stands and steps away. Kalawit gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game. Kalawit doesn't manage to clinch there - Hernandez circles away.
Hernandez tries to clinch but Kalawit moves away and Kalawit counters by moving into the clinch. Hernandez manages to pull guard.
Hernandez is trying to control the position from the bottom.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Hernandez controlling the position. Hernandez trying to strike from the bottom but really, it's not the best position to be doing that from! Hernandez wriggles free and stands up. Hernandez shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. Gil Hernandez is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Hernandez drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Kalawit tries to bench press Hernandez off him but Hernandez keeps the position. Hernandez laying and praying for a moment but Kalawit takes advantage and regains half guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Hernandez stands, ready to strike. The ref makes him back up and allows Kalawit to get to his feet. Hernandez scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice. Kalawit wants to control but Hernandez postures up. Hernandez stands up and beckons Kalawit to his feet. Hernandez tries to clinch but Kalawit moves out of range. Kalawit misses with a takedown attempt - Hernandez sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Hernandez buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Hernandez instigates a clinch. Hernandez pulls guard effortlessly. Hernandez keeping moving, preventing Kalawit from controlling successfully. Hernandez working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Kalawit doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Oh but Hernandez is tightening it up a little... Kalawit has to be careful here... He's got his foot tucked under now, this looks tight! Kalawit reacted too slowly and this one could be over in a matter of seconds! YES! Kalawit taps out! nice BJJ there by Hernandez!
