Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jamal Jones (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Thomas Engine (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jones comes to the cage accompanied by Still D.R.E. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of

9 - 5 - 1, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Thomas Engine! The judges for this bout are Alexandre Firmino, Leandro Rodrigues and Mauricio Rocha.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Engine uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Jones has time to react. Jones with a poor takedown and Engine counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Jones! A nice elbow there by Engine. Jones is writhing around trying to get back to his feet. Jones is desperately trying to get back to half guard.

It looks like Jamal Jones has been cut. This has been an exciting period of action! Engine throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.

Jones tries to lock up and control but Engine gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Engine raining down shots from the mount! Jones is looking to improve his position but Engine isn't that keen on the idea.
That's one minute gone in the round. Jones gets back to half guard. Engine is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Jones doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Engine. Engine is trying to control the action in half guard but Jones is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard. Engine thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Jones's head. Jones makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Jones. Engine postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Jones is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Engine, into his guard. Engine looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.

Engine had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Jones defends it easily. Engine keeping moving, preventing Jones from controlling successfully. Engine has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Jones lands a couple of decent looking shots. Jones works over Engine with some ground and pound from guard. Engine is trying to control the position but Jones postures up. Jones sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Engine's guard.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Jones lands strikes from half guard. Jones looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Engine looking to work for a kimura from the bottom. Jones is trying to control the action in half guard but Engine is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard. Jones not landing any meaningful shots this time. Engine is in trouble now - Jones has advanced to mount! Engine is in all sorts of trouble here.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Jones breaks from Engine's wrist control and lands an elbow. Jones prevents Engine from getting the reversal. Jones is landing with some decent strikes but Engine is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue. Jones dominating with strikes here. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Jones landing shots from mount. Jones lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning. Engine looks gassed! Engine sneaks a leg under to get to half guard. Jones throwing shots but Engine is blocking nicely. Jones sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Engine defending well though. The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action! Engine blocking the ground and pound attempt from Jones. Jones with the ground and pound but Engine uses the opportunity to regain guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Engine wants to sweep but no luck. Engine looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
That was a close round but I would say that Jamal Jones will probably get the nod. The cut man is working on Jamal Jones's cut. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!
Jones misses with a takedown and Engine decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Jones's guard. Jones tries to land a sweep but no joy. Engine scoring with punches to the head and body. Engine loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry. Engine throws and elbow that misses. Jones uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Engine's guard. Nice move by Jones! Jones throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent. Engine is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move. Engine winds up and cracks Jones with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
That's one minute gone in the round. Jones wants to get back to full guard. Jones is working hard here to advance position. Jones gets full guard. Jones is pulling down on Engine's head. It's preventing any offense from Engine, at least for the moment. Engine postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. Jones wants to sweep here but Engine controlling him for the moment. Jones preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Jones looking to sweep here. No luck so far. Jones keeping moving, preventing Engine from controlling successfully. Jones might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground. Engine throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Jones works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Jones bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Engine's guard. Jones lands a couple of elbows. Engine not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Jones wants to control from the top but Engine keeps moving. Jones scores with a decent looking elbow strike. Jones advances to half guard. Engine regains full guard. Nicely done.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Jones preventing the sweep. Jones is posturing up here but Engine has hold of an arm and he's gone for an armbar! Jones tries to roll out but it's too tight and Jones has to tap! Slick submission there by Engine!
