PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Adan Pegador (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kyle Gailfus (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The key to victory for Adan Pegador has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Adan Pegador!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Kyle Gailfus!
The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, and Timothy Bukovac.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pegador tries to close the distance and clinch but Gailfus swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Pegador swats away the attempt to clinch by Gailfus.

Gailfus shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Pegador's guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
Gailfus trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.

Gailfus drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Pegador manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Gailfus has Pegador in his guard.
Gailfus wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.
Gailfus wants to sweep but no luck.
Pegador knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Gailfus on the ground.
Pegador trying to control the position from guard on top but Gailfus is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Pegador has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Pegador drops back looking for a leg! Gailfus is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Gailfus manages to kick Pegador off! Pegador jumps back into Gailfus's guard.

Pegador wants to control from the top but Gailfus keeps moving.

The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Gailfus looking for a sweep. Not yet Gailfus, not yet.
Pegador wanted to stand there but Gailfus had control of the position.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Gailfus decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Gailfus passes the guard and advances to mount!

Gailfus lands with some strikes.

Pegador tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Gailfus looking to control but Pegador is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
Pegador is in a horrible position here. Gailfus smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.

Pegador wants to hold on but Gailfus pushes him away.
Pegador wants to improve position but instead he's given up his back.
Gailfus controlling well, preventing Pegador from escaping the position.
Gailfus is working the ground and pound. Can Pegador escape?
Pegador is very frustrated here, being controlled quite effectively by Gailfus.

Gailfus is staying calm and holding on to the back position, whilst working on a rear naked choke. Pegador is defending well though. Gailfus let's go of the attempt for now.
So, who will make the next big move? In this position it could be crucial.

Gailfus looking to hold on to the position here but Pegador rolls and ends up regaining guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Pegador keeping full guard, as Gailfus tries to pass.
Pegador trying to strike from the bottom but really, it's not the best position to be doing that from!
Gailfus controls from within his opponent's guard.
Pegador will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Kyle Gailfus dominated that round.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.



Gailfus shoots in and gets a takedown into Pegador's guard.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Gailfus accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Pegador keeping moving, preventing Gailfus from controlling successfully.
Gailfus controls from within his opponent's guard.
Gailfus tries to free his leg and advance position but Pegador is retaining full guard.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Kyle Gailfus wasn't active enough on the ground.

Gailfus drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.

Gailfus throwing strikes but missing.
Pegador really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Pegador can't keep his opponent in guard - Gailfus advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Gailfus wants to lay and pray for a moment but Pegador keeps working.

Gailfus is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Gailfus slows the pace down in half guard.
Pegador is looking for a sweep. Gailfus is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Pegador keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.

Gailfus is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Gailfus working over Pegador with some ground and pound. Pegador looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable.
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Gailfus connects with a nice short shot to Pegador's temple.
Pegador wants to get back to his feet.
Gailfus is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.

Gailfus gets to his feet - back to striking we go!
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Gailfus slaps away a takedown attempt from Pegador, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Gailfus tries to clinch but Pegador moves out of range.

Gailfus throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Pegador tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Gailfus is in Pegador's guard.
Gailfus passes easily into side control. Nice work.
Pegador seems a little lost for a moment, as Gailfus dominates the positioning.

Gailfus is trying to get an arm triangle but Pegador is defending well.

Pegador is letting Gailfus control him for a moment.
Gailfus wants to lay and pray for a moment but Pegador keeps working.
The referee asks Gailfus politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Gailfus prefers to stall for the moment though.
Gailfus's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.

Gailfus has worked his way into a potential kimura here. Pegador is trying to get out of the position but his squirming has just got him deeper into trouble. Gailfus yanks on the arm and Pegador is forced to tap due to a very painful looking submission! Nice work by Gailfus.
