Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Abraham Robben (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Van Struve (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Van Struve will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Abraham Robben!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Van Struve!
The judges for this bout are Aafke Stam, Patrick Alders and Paul Aken.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sloppy strikes from Struve. Those never looked like landing.
A head kick misses from Struve.
Struve pulls out of a head kick attempt.
A combination from Struve does no damage.
Struve closes the distance but Robben moves to the side
and Robben counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Robben throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Struve throws a head kick but Robben moves out of range.
No luck for Robben with that takedown attempt.
Struve tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

and Struve counters with a big head kick but Robben shrugs it off.

and Robben counters with a shoot takedown. Struve fights it but they end up in guard.

Struve is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Abraham Robben wasn't doing enough on the ground.
Struve throws a sloppy head kick and Robben moves out of range easily.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Robben misses with a kick to the body
and Robben takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Robben gets cracked there but stands up to it.
Struve tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Robben manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

Robben throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Struve tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Robben is in Struve's guard.

The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

and Robben counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Struve's guard now.

Robben has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Abraham Robben just wasn't active enough.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

and Robben counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.

If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Struve throws a head kick that looked like it stung.

Van Struve is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

and Robben counters with a takedown into side control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Robben controls the position.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Abraham Robben.
A looping hook to the body misses from Struve. Robben does a little dance to reset his feet.

Struve throws a combination. Robben tries to block but a couple of punches get through.
Robben avoids the head kick by Struve.
Struve tries to land a front kick but Robben steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.

Robben closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Struve to the mat! Struve manages to get full guard.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Robben.
Struve misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

Robben gets a takedown into half guard.
Well, if Robben is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Robben seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Struve for as long as he can get away with.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Robben fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Struve avoids it really well and circles away.
Struve misses with a hook. Robben ducked under it nicely.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

and Robben counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

Struve takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.

Struve is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Struve tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Robben paws at him with a jab and circles away.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Struve throws a sloppy head kick and Robben moves out of range easily.
Robben avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

Robben throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Struve was covering up waiting for the punch and Robben finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Robben is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

Robben shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Robben was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Robben, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
