Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jamie Cooney!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Frodo Baggins!
The judges for this bout are Reed Andrews, Bruno Lombardi and Chad Campbell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Baggins lands a glancing blow to the side of Cooney's head.


It looks like Jamie Cooney has been cut.
Baggins misses with a double jab
and Baggins takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Cooney throws a quick head kick that skims the top of Baggins's head.
Baggins dodges the punch combination from Cooney.
Baggins throws a combination that misses
and Cooney counters with a leg kick.
Baggins misses with a combination
and Cooney counters with a lovely shot to the body.
Frodo Baggins seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
A low kick from Baggins misses
and Cooney counters with an inside leg kick.
Cooney lands with a nice body punch.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

and Cooney counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.

Baggins looks gassed!
Crunch! Cooney slams his shin into Baggins's torso.
Danga de danga de dang - Cooney scores with a four punch combination!
Baggins sees a low kick coming and goes to check it, but it's actually a body kick and it thuds into his unprotected ribs.

Cooney lands a jab to the head.
Cooney slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.
Cooney lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.
Cooney connects with a high kick.


Baggins is rocked!
Baggins takes a kick to the body and keeps moving.
Baggins is still on wobbly legs! Can Cooney finish him?
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Cooney changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Baggins looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Baggins seems to have recovered his senses.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Baggins is not in a great position here, taking some shots.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Baggins is letting Cooney control him for a moment.
Cooney cracks Baggins with a big right hand but Baggins just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.
Cooney controls the position.
Cooney working the ground and pound but he's contacting the mat, not the fighter.
Cooney cracks Baggins with a big elbow.
Baggins really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Cooney. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Cooney remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Cooney has knee on belly and moves into mount.
Cooney lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.

Baggins takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.

The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Cooney cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Cooney lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Cooney pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Cooney and Baggins are patiently standing in front of each other looking for an opening. Cooney throws a head kick. It's landed, knocking Baggins into next week! Ooooh that was huge! Cooney knows it - he's on the cage flexing is biceps. That's a bit weird considering he won by kick but whatever.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:05 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Head Kick). Jamie Cooney!
