Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Luis Fabiano! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
6 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Valeriy Kozlaev! The judges for this bout are Luis Engracia, Emerson Jorge and Thiago Cunha.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Kozlaev shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Fabiano is trying to defend but Kozlaev finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further. Kozlaev controlling the action here. Fabiano tries to kick Kozlaev off in order to stand up. Kozlaev Avoids the leg push though and dives into side control. Fabiano is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Kozlaev has just dragged him back down to the mat. Fabiano on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Fabiano tries to get out of the position. Kozlaev is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position. Kozlaev looking to punish the body of his opponent here but Fabiano is avoiding damage well.

That's one minute gone in the round. Fabiano managing to avoid any damage from the strikes thrown by Kozlaev.
Kozlaev has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Kozlaev creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Fabiano sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike. Fabiano trying to remain calm as Kozlaev controls from the top position. Kozlaev working the ground and pound from side control. Kozlaev throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage. Kozlaev throws a strike aimed at the side of Fabiano's head but Fabiano avoids it well. Kozlaev landing strikes. Fabiano is breathing heavily. Kozlaev in side control, just content to control the action for now. Fabiano is not in a great position here, taking some shots.
Fabiano is rocked!
That's two minutes gone in the round. Kozlaev cracks Fabiano with a big right hand but Fabiano just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.
Oh Fabiano is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!! A lull in the action here as Kozlaev stalls from top position. Kozlaev cracks Fabiano with a big elbow. Oh, he's hurt! Kozlaev immediately mounts and start dropping bombs! Fabiano is done! The referee jumps in and saves him from any more punishment - a quick and decisive finish by Kozlaev!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:48 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Valeriy Kozlaev!
