Jacare fails with the takedown
and Thornton counters with a nice uppercut.
Thornton fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Jacare, pushing him back against the cage.
Thornton jumps guard and drags Jacare to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
Jacare stands up and waves to Thornton to follow him.
Thornton darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Thornton is looking to take a break and control but Jacare is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Jacare gets back to full guard.
Thornton really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Jacare. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Jacare looking to hit a scissor sweep but Thornton is one step ahead there.

Thornton wants to stand up, so he's looking to wriggle free of Jacare's closed guard. He's half up but Jacare has locked on to an arm! Uh oh! Jacare pivots and extends the arm, Thornton falls face first to the mat and taps??... does he?? YES! He's tapping! Excellent counter grappling there by Jacare! Well done that man!
