Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Andrei Chekov (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Vladimir Abramova (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Andrei Chekov!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Vladimir Abramova!
The judges for this bout are Aleksei Zolotukhin, Valeri Chadov and Sergei Dronov.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Abramova ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
An inside leg kick from Chekov misses.

Abramova rushes Chekov and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Abramova is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Abramova has Chekov pressed against the cage, preventing Chekov from circling away and getting back to striking at range.

Abramova works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard.
Abramova passes Chekov's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
Chekov is looking for a sweep. Abramova is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Chekov wants to control but Abramova is keeping busy and won't allow it.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Abramova looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.
Abramova controlling the pace.
Chekov scrambles, trying to get to his feet, but Abramova manages to mount him!
Abramova landing strikes from the mount and Chekov is in trouble!
Abramova looking to control and managing it successfully.

Chekov tries to reverse the position but Abramova maintains control.
Abramova controlling the position easily from mount.
Chekov knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Abramova on the ground.
Abramova avoids the attempt from Chekov to control.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Abramova controlling his opponent.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Vladimir Abramova wasn't active enough on the ground.
Chekov pulls out of a head kick attempt.

Abramova gets a clinch.
Chekov tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage.

Chekov drags the fight down to the ground.
Chekov manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Abramova is desperately trying to get back to half guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Chekov goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now Abramova is on top in guard.
Chekov looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Abramova puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.

Abramova is trying to work for a kimura but Chekov is defending well.
Abramova takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Chekov might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Abramova prevents Chekov from improving his position.
Abramova wants to pass the guard but Chekov is defending well.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Abramova moves into range and clinches up with Chekov.
Chekov is working for takedown but Abramova is calmly controlling the position for now.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Chekov tries a head kick but it misses.
Andrei Chekov is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Abramova pushes Chekov up against the cage in a clinch.
Abramova looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.

Chekov breaks the clinch.
Chekov misses with a takedown

and Abramova counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Abramova slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

Chekov is working an open guard so Abramova takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
Chekov throws a hard body shot but it just misses.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Abramova is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Abramova's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.

The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Vladimir Abramova was stalling too much, according to the referee.
Abramova shoots in but Chekov avoids the takedown attempt easily.

and Abramova counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Abramova.

Chekov is looking to stand up but Abramova isn't so interested in that idea.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Vladimir Abramova was stalling too much, according to the referee.
Abramova shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Chekov sprawls well. Chekov wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Abramova gets slowly back to his feet.

Abramova looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Chekov!

Abramova is landing with some decent strikes but Chekov is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.
The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Abramova cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!

Chekov is trying to escape the mount.
Abramova takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Chekov is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Abramova stands up from the dominant position, so we're back on the feet.
Abramova fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Vladimir Abramova showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's time! Back to the action! This is the final round!

Abramova is looking for a kimura but Chekov is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Abramova to get the leverage.
Abramova perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
Chekov holds on for dear life, maintaining half guard for now.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Abramova takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Horrible takedown by Abramova or perhaps it was just good defense by Chekov which made him look bad.
Chekov loads up on a big right hand but Abramova slips the punch.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Abramova shoots in and drives through. Chekov sprawls well.

Abramova content to control rather than advance.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Vladimir Abramova was stalling too much, according to the referee.
Chekov pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.

Danga de danga de dang - Chekov scores with a four punch combination!
Chekov has his takedown stuffed

so Abramova counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Abramova controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Abramova with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.
Vladimir Abramova has got the better of the ground game so far.
Abramova not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

Abramova gets to his feet and calls his opponent to stand. Here come the fireworks!
