PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Mirko Emelianenko (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Eric Kilgore (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Eric Kilgore told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

With a record of 7 - 3 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Eric Kilgore!
The judges for this bout are Viktor Lagutenko, Sergei Dronov and Dmitry Maklakov.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Emelianenko tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Kilgore paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Emelianenko gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Kilgore drops back, looking for a kneebar! Emelianenko looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Emelianenko looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Emelianenko!

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Kilgore wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Emelianenko, who protects the arm well.

Kilgore goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Emelianenko has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Kilgore but great work by Emelianenko.

Emelianenko is taking a breather. Kilgore says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Emelianenko, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
