Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Russell Jackman (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Shane Carwin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Jackman comes to the cage accompanied by AC/DC - Shake Your Foundations. Carwin has chosen Mama Said Knock You Out as his entrance music. Russell Jackman could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Shane Carwin's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 10 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Russell Jackman!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 11 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Shane Carwin!
The judges for this bout are Damien Edna, Winston Howard and Bruno Hogan.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Left hook, right uppercut from Carwin.


It looks like Russell Jackman has been cut.
Jackman throws a right hand that misses
and Carwin counters with a nice low kick that buckles Jackman's knee momentarily.

Jackman ducks under a wild hook from Carwin.
Carwin throws a low kick, looking for Jackman's leg but Jackman calmly moves out of range.
Carwin finds nothing but air with that leg kick attempt.
Carwin throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Jackman takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
Carwin tries to clinch but fails miserably
letting Jackman counter with a right hand.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Jackman moves out of range as Carwin strikes.
Jackman misses with a few strikes there.
Jackman steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Carwin.
Sloppy strikes from Carwin. Those never looked like landing.
Carwin misses with a lunging right hand
and Jackman counters with a stiff right hand.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Jackman punishes Carwin's body with a nice straight punch.
Carwin moves to clinch but Jackman breaks away
and Jackman counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Carwin throws a jab when Jackman was well out of range.

Jackman lands a nice hook to Carwin's body. Carwin takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.
Jackman is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Jackman throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Carwin sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Jackman misses with a left hand
and Carwin counters with an inside leg kick.
Carwin slips under a jab from Jackman.
Shane Carwin seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Carwin digs a good body shot into Jackman's ribs.
Carwin tries to clinch but fails miserably
and Jackman counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.

Carwin misses with an uppercut.
Carwin fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Carwin connects with an inside leg kick.
Jackman is breathing heavily.
Jackman throws a hook to the side of Carwin's head but Carwin sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Carwin feints a jab promting Jackman to slip. Carwin then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Jackman slips again and ducks right into an uppercut.
Jackman moves away from the strike by Carwin.
Carwin cracks Jackman with a good jab.

A punch combination from Carwin misses.
Carwin misses the shot to the body.
Carwin throws a right hand that misses

and Jackman counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Carwin!
Jackman thuds his fist into the canvas! Oooouch!

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Jackman thowing strikes but they're hitting the gloves, not doing any damage.
Carwin sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.
Carwin moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.
Carwin is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.
Jackman tries to free his leg and advance position but Carwin is retaining full guard.
Jackman trying to control but Carwin is working from the bottom.
Jackman with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.
Carwin is trying to keep Jackman in close.

Jackman wants to control from the top but Carwin keeps moving.
Jackman seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Jackman prevents Carwin from getting back to his feet.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Carwin attempts a low kick but it misses it's target.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Carwin misses with a hook
and Jackman cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Jackman throws a hook but Carwin avoids it easily.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Shane Carwin dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Russell Jackman's cut.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


Jackman takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
Jackman walks into a left hand.
Carwin wants to clinch
and Jackman counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Jackman throws an off balance right hand
and Carwin counters with a straight punch to the midsection.
Carwin tries to clinch
and Jackman counters with a straight right hand.
Jackman throws a nice looking combination but Carwin bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Carwin misses with a lunging right hand

and Jackman counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Carwin!
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Carwin wants to control but Jackman is having none of it.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
A nice elbow there by Jackman.

Jackman controlling the position easily from mount.
Carwin wants to hold on but Jackman pushes him away.
Jackman misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.
Carwin is trying to escape the mount.
Jackman trying to control but he's not successful this time.
Carwin is in all sorts of trouble here.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Carwin is bucking up trying to escape but Jackman cracks him with another couple of good strikes.
Carwin is desperately trying to improve his position but Jackman has a good base and remains in mount.

Jackman swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Carwin is now in Jackman's guard. A big mistake from Jackman there, giving up the dominant position!
Jackman looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Carwin puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.
Carwin wants to stand but Jackman has hold of a leg and an arm, so he's trapped for now.

Jackman is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Jackman thows a big elbow that misses, also allowing Carwin to regain full guard.
Carwin looking for a sweep. Not yet Carwin, not yet.
Carwin is controlling Jackman's posture.
Jackman trying to control the position from guard on top but Carwin is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Jackman postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Carwin is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Jackman, into his guard.

Carwin must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Jackman is working actively from the bottom, looking for submissions. He's escaped his hips to the side and he's going for an armbar! Carwin has his hands clasped together but Jackman extends an breaks Carwin's desperate grasp, forcing a tap out due to armbar! Nice BJJ displayed there by Jackman.
